Bridesmaids
Some of their gifts...
My Bridesmaids have been AMAZING (so far, lol) and I really wanted to thank them for everything. Being in someones wedding isnt cheap, especially when you factor in that all my bridal party chipped in for my Bridal Shower, Bach Party, and the "male entertainment".
So Im getting them monogrammed bags (found them at Hobby Lobby 3 to a pack and having a local vendor monogram them) and filling them with lots of lotions and sprays that Ive gotten at Bath & Body Works and Victorias Secret (Semi Annual is a Brides Best Friend!) as well as MAC eyeshadow in their favorite colors, flip flops from the Old Navy $1 Sale, and etched wine glasses with their favorite wine. I made a little survey sheet for all of them to get an idea of their favorites and I just ordered one at a time over time. Some of them were easy like Chardonnay and Moscato, but then I have some divas that like specific brands like Noche Chocolate wine from Cooper Vineyards and White Christmas from Dennis Vineyards. Those I had to order via mail. Im also filling thier wine glasses with Godiva/Ghirardelli/and Lindt Chocolates! Here is a preview of the wine stuff, I cant wait to give them out! |

In Memory of My Mommy
...her Wedding Dress
I had been thinking of different ways I could honor my mother on Our Wedding Day. I lost her on 10/6/09, just 2 months before my FH proposed. She was the best and most fun Mother I could have ever asked for. She absolutely LOVED my FH and I know he would have her blessing.
I came up with the idea to have her dress hanging up in the foyer of the church as guests enter into the Ceremony. I also had the most daunting task of finding a dress form to put it on.....finally I found one on Craigslist for $35 and I negotiated it down to $20! YESSSSS! Im going to include lots of white candles, pics of me and her as I grew up, and of course a big blow up of her wedding picture. I also have considered taking a piece of her wedding slip (underneath) and using that as the wrap for my bouquet, so I can feel a piece of her as I walk down the aisle. Here is the dress on the dress form, my Mom was a skinny heffa (lol) and the dress is actually smaller than the dress form so I'll either make some make adjustments to the dress form or just hang the veil over the back so you cant see the opening. Its going to be a major tearjerker when I see it on the big day, but I know she is smiling down on us! |

WORST & BEST WEDDING FAVORS POLL
I have been to quite a few weddings and Im always excited to see what the wedding favors will be (not that I wasnt excited for the bride and groom but who doesnt like cute free stuff?!)
During the engagment process we have gotten lots of cool advice regarding our favors and the consensus was to get something your guests will actually use and not just look at. We decided upon a Big Sweets Buffet. I read a post by a WBC bride earlier accounting her top 5 things she takes in from weddings and favors were one of them. I have seen some amazing favors; as well as some favors that I opened up on the way home and had to try and figue out (w/ the rest of the car) what they were and why they were favors. So WBC give me your Best and Worst Memories of Wedding Favors and what about it made you feel the way you do? I'll start: my fav were these high end crystal champagne glasses with the bride and grooms names on them, it had a swiveled stem and it just looked really classy how they had the set up. Worst? Champagne glass charms shaped like flamingos.... |

How Much Alcohol to Buy~~~
I know this is a never ending debate amongst us brides and I have heard some great theories/calculations (for instance the average drinker consumes 1 drink per hour & you need 3 containers of chaser per spirit) I am having an open bar and my FH is a fraternity man so I def need to make sure there is ENOUGH for his brothers, LOL.
But I actually found a cool website that does the calculations for you based on how many guests, what type of drinks, and what time of day. It even breaks it down into what types of liquor like: Red wine, Beer, Vodka, Gin, etc.....Having this printout makes me feel a little more at ease when I walk into the wholesale store. * http://www.realsimple.com/holidays-entertaining/weddings/wedding-wine-liquor-calculator-00000000008314/index.html As always I feel its better to buy more than enough rather than just enough, and make sure the store will refund unopened bottles. Has anyone been able to find Moscato in the box? Do things like cherrys, limes, etc work well or just make a mess? |

I have been looking for a nice bag to put my girls' jewelry in since that will be one of their gifts for the wedding. Most places I find them to be rather expensive for just a little satin sack. There are some other fabulous options there as well like leopard print, mesh, lace, crystalized, striped, metallic, the list goes on. This site is great in general for anyone who does alot of DIY. They only come in quantities of 30 but the prices start at only $4.80 and goes up to $13.80 based on the size you want, so even with the highest price you're only paying 46 cents per bag! And for that price you know you can find something else to do with the bags. Use them for a future gift, give gifts to other people who helped with the wedding, or even donate them to an upcoming bride! I am considering getting them monogrammed w/ my girls initials. How long did you date before you got engaged? 4 years Was the proposal a complete surprise? I knew that he wanted to marry me, but had no idea that it was going to happen that night. Our top tier will be ours to keep for a year of course and it will be lemon as well. Centerpiece With Live Fish
For one of the 4 Centerpieces we have decided to use live Fish. We really want to use black fish and have researched and hope to use Black Mollys. Just wanted to hear from any Brides who have done this successfully and have any tips or advice.
WBC Brides I know that some are against it, but this is not the post for that. I respect your bleeding heart but We have already DECIDED on using them, so please no comments on why your against it, Thanks. I have seen some fabulous photos online and cant wait to see our vision comes into play. Also excited for the young guests who get to take these home with them. |

So for Our Wedding we have 6 Flowergirls. 5 are little and One is adult. I absolutely LOVE the idea of this bc its cute & different. She actually said to me long before I ever got engaged "When you two get married, I want to be the Flowergirl" Well here we are and and I cant wait!
