DIY Wedding
Bridal Shoes

It's getting close to the day and I've already picked out my dress. The bridesmaids and flower girls are all set with their dresses and their shoes. Oh yea....shoes...

I can't walk down the aisle barefoot. Can I? How awesome would that be?

The wedding is outdoors and on farmland. It's a country club, circus and lights theme wedding. I would love to be barefoot, but alas...my rebellious nature is frowned upon. So, I will to wear shoes. Well.., a "kind of shoe".

Instead of paying $$$$ of dollars for bridal shoes that I will not be comfortable in (heels...ewww ouch) nor wear ever again, I'm going to buy a pair of those cute satin, round-toe, light rubber sole, flat shoes and then decorate them myself.

I have a few ideas that are shown in the pictures on how I'd like to decorate the shoes. Of course the shoes will be decorated with our wedding colors (wine and ivory) and to match my dress. Wine color lace around the edges, fresh water pearls in the front, and ribbon lines along the sides seems elegant. The ideas are still swimming around though. I haven't come up with anything final yet.

I'm into DIY stuff for this wedding. My bridesmaids and I are going to put together the bouquets too. We ordered silk roses and lots of ribbons, lace, pins, and jewels for that party. That blog soon to follow.

This has been a fun process. I'll post a picture when the shoes are finished.

Hi Rebecca. I actually paid $10 for the plain satin ivory flat shoe and I'm buying the ribbons, lace, and jewels to put on the shoes myself. You can go to any crafts store like Michael's and get the art supplies for under $20. It may not end up costing you any more than $30 - $40 to complete the shoes.
