Sorry, ladies...I am not one to complain...but I need to vent for a second.
Can someone please tell me why it is so hard to find a good and reasonable DJ?
I'm a bride who knows exactly what she wants. We are having a beautiful small wedding. All we need is a DJ who has a shining personality, his or her own equipment, and availability on our day. We want someone to play at the ceremony as well as the reception.
That is all.
We don't need uplighting, staging, disco balls, monster speakers, karaoke, or any other little extras that are being pushed on us!
There was a DJ that kept pushing this disco ball on us that apparently makes rainbows on the ceiling. He kept on and on about it while he was describing his services to me. He mentioned that thing at least 6 times. He is so in love with his disco ball. I swear I thought he was going to burst into tears when I told him for the 2nd time that this is an outdoor wedding. We don't even have a place for a disco ball!
I have spoken to about 11 DJs in the past week and none of them are interested in working a simple wedding ceremony/reception. They keep trying to push me to buy extra stuff that we are not interested in. When I kindly say, "No, thank you." and tell them what I want, they become pushier!
Internet specials start at $$$ but somehow they try to push the prices to $$$$ by saying that only applies to specific weddings that have this or that which my wedding does not need. It's a small and simple wedding without the frills and tricks. We are only having 65 people at the wedding and the wedding/reception is in the same location. No extra travel or moving equipment.
I am not a picky person when it comes to getting this done. There are a few more DJs that I'm going to talk to later today. Keeping my fingers crossed that this nightmare will end soon and a spectacular DJ with a reasonable and winning personality will come and rescue us soon!
