Do you have a reception dress?

Hi lovelies!

I was so excited yesterday because I had my final fitting for my wedding dress. After all of the final touches were done, I was able to bring my dress home. I love my wedding dress. It's so beautiful and fits perfectly. I thought I'd want to wear my dress for the reception too, but I've seen posts where brides say they wished they had a reception dress because by the time the ceremony was over and pictures had been taken, they were ready to change out of their dresses.

I'm not sure if I'll feel this way, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I don't really like wearing dresses. But I understand for my wedding I should dress up. It was so hard to accept that I had to wear a wedding dress, but I do love the choice that I made. The dress is beautiful.

It is kind of hard to find something else to change into for the reception. I've narrowed down my choices on dresses that I actually like. I don't look too bad in tea length, a-line dresses. I have curves, so I have to wear what fits nicely, and looks complimentary to my shape. This is why dress shopping is hard for me LOL

So I'm wondering, how many of you will be changing into another dress after your ceremony?

I'm thinking about it. Not too sure yet. I love my wedding dress and it's very comfortable. If you do decide to get one be sure it's one you really like. The dresses you narrowed it down to are very cute. I really like the red one.

I might, because we plan on getting married in Hawai, just the two of us and then having a recption once we get back. Not certain though and it depends on budget as well.

Yea, I understand what you mean Alecia. Budget is a big deal. I found some really nice dresses online for excellent prices.

That's so beautiful you're having your wedding just to two of you in Hawaii. Very romantic. Can't wait to see pics of that!

I'm not changing because I just love love love my dress and everytime I have it on i dont even want to get out of it lol so i know I'm not gonna want to get out of it :D but i know a lot of girls change into a different dress really its up to you :D

That's great that you love your dress! I knew you loved it when I read your post on your blog. I love my dress too, but I think I may want to change afterwards. I'll update when I make a final decision on which dress I'm going to wear to the reception.

I was kind of in the same boat as you. I love my dress, but I'm afraid it might get too hot, or too heavy, or worse case scenario, I am a clumsy eater, and we are having tacos, haha. They don't mix. Sooo, I bought a reception dress, $60, go me!! It's on my blog, white with some sparkles, nothing too fancy. I wanted something that if I didn't wear for the reception, that I could wear again. I hope this makes sense, lol. Your dress choices are beautiful!! :)

phillysgirl I am so like you! lol I am a messy eater too. I just have no idea what regrets I may have not having a reception dress. I love love love your reception dress. Thanks for the encouragement.

I'm borderline on wanting to change. I was going to originally have a courthouse wedding and then reception so I was gonna get a short dress and got use to the idea but now that I'm having a real wedding I bought a wedding dress but can't take my mind off a shorter one

lovelybrown12 I can definitely understand. It is very appealing when you think about it. You don't want to have to be mindful of where you step while dancing and enjoying your reception. That was another thing that attracted me to getting a reception dress. A shorter dress seems more appealing for reception.

I actually have 2 reception dresses! Iove my dress & all but breathing is not an option in it...lol! It's also quite hot after a while. I had my heart set on a pink dress & ended up with 2! I'm wearing a long pink ballgown for the first half of the reception & a short pink one for the second half!

mrsturiac wow how fun! You are wearing 2 dresses. You'll be a showstopper! That sounds like so much fun. Though, I don't think I'd have the patience to keep changing. I bet your dresses are so cute.

lynnie11276 that is actually a really great idea! I didn't think of wearing a pants suit. It seems like it would be way more comfortable than a dress you can't be free in.

If you do wear a reception dress I think you should wear white or ivory. Stick with your colors, but still look like you're the bride and not like you are a guest or one of your bridesmaids. I like the first dress you picked.
