I need advise ladies!
When we got engaged my Mom totally came forward and said she could do whatever to help us pay for the wedding. And I had the hard conversation with my Dad about it and got a figure from him. But the FH hasnt asked his parents. His Dad's girlfriend was just diagnosed with breast cancer and is going through her chemo and is out of work, so moneys tight. But his Mom, who doesnt have a ton of money but she has a BF that lives with her, my Mom is a single Mom. Hasnt mentioned anything... My Mom will give me about 3000 by the time the wedding comes. My Dad is giving 2000. The rest is up to us and right now my budget is 17k, thats a lot of money when we are trying to buy a house and start our life together. So how do we ask her if she can help?? Should we ask?? This is so tough because its ME and My Fam paying for it as of right now. Please help!! |

Wedding Dress
Love It
So I went on Friday to try on my dress. I was so nervous cause I thought I wasnt going to like it anymore but when I put it on and it fit perfect and I was so excited!! When I ordered it the dress was a few sizes to big so I didnt get the real effect but they did an awesome job on it and its perfect!! It just needs to be hemmed up a little and bustled!
I also ordered my veil and headpiece. I decided to go with a rhinestone headband thingy then a tiara. I cannot believe how much the damn headpiece and veil cost. But its worth it. |

Wedding Reception
Met with Wedding Planner
I met with my wedding planner the other day and I am so excited! It became more real when we were walking around the venue bouncing ideas off of eachother. There was an event going on when we got there so it was kinda weird walking around someone elses party but if they didnt care I guess I shouldnt. But the venue just added a new deck and its gorgeous!! Its a huge half moon deck with a set of stairs that lead up to it. If I was 100% it wasnt going to rain I would so have my ceremony there but its going to make for awesome pics.
I am hopefully going back in a few weeks, when an event is not going on so I will post pics. |

Soon after I bought my dress I was at Kohls and fell in love with these necklaces. I just tried them on and I really think I am going to go with the 1st one. But then I was thinking maybe I could do the 2nd one for my BM's. We havent picked out dresses for them yet but I am sure they will go with rhinestones. I also found earrings that would go with the necklaces for them.
Plus with a 30% coupon for Kohls I could get them for a reasonable price. I think I am going to bring it when I go and try on my dress...which will hopefully be next week :) |

DIY Wedding
My First DIY: Candy Buffet Bags
So I love my sweets! I could snack on chocolate all day! So it only made sense to have a candy buffett for our favors. And it works out perfect that my colors are brown and champagne because I made my own favor bags from brown paper lunch bags. I am about half way done with them and its very time consuming.
I have bought a few apothecary jars, I got some deals around xmas time. And I am going to have 3 fish bowls. I found plastic laddles at Oriental Trading and they are clear, I just added some ribbon to dress them up a bit. ...just in case you ladies notice I ordered stickers from zazzles.com you will see one of them in pic 3. I got them and was so excited, started using them on the bags and then my MOH BF started laughing at me...I didnt understand why...then he asked me to look like 5 times and I had no clue what he was talking about it...if you look I spelled together wrong :( I was so upset I started crying! But then I figured it took me forever to notice it and maybe other wont. And I didnt want to waste my money that I already spent. Let me know if you guys noticed it withouth me saying anything :) |

I got the call today from the bridal salon and my dress is here. I am so excited because I havent seen it since November. I am hoping to fall in love with it all over again.
I was going to wait until August when I have all my BM's here and we go shopping for them but I dont think I can wait that long. I think I am going to have my Mom go with me to check it out so my BM's can all see it at the same time. |

Invitations are so stinkin expensive. But I found ones that I really like and they are 30% off so it makes them a little more reasonable. I know a lot of brides are doing DYI invites but I dont think I am that crafty and I have no clue where to start.

The Most Important Thing...
When it came to a photographer for our wedding I was not going to go cheap. Like many of you, I am on a budget and trying to pinch wherever I can but I was not going to on a photographer. The one I really really wanted was like $4500 and I didnt want to pinch but that was just ridiculous!
After weeks of searching and meeting with photographers my MOH was on Craigslist and gave me a list of like 5 photographers on there. I decided to check them out for the heck of it and I actually found one that I absolutely loved. I dont want the traditional wedding photos so some of the portfolio's we looked at were pretty boring. But then I found Bert and his photos were great and his price was even better. His package includes engagement pics, unlimited time on wedding day, some prints, and a dvd of images to music. I asked him about doing all photos to music including engagement pics and they threw that in at no additional charge. $1045- I thought it was a great price. It doesnt include an album but I found a girl at a bridal show who does the coffee table books so thats probably going to be an additional $500. So a total of $1545. Wedding Dress
The One
So one of the first things I did after I got engaged was go dress shopping!! I was so super excited and I went to a few different bridal salons and tried on many dresses. And once I found this one I absolutely loved it. I knew it was the one...at the time
Its been about 7 months since I ordered the dress and it should be in any day now but I am wondering if I made the right choice. I wish I would have waited a bit to buy my dress. I would like to be dress shopping right now. I have found other brides on WBC who say the same thing and once it comes in they fall in love all over again. I am hoping thats what happens with me. My 2nd option is going to be a reception dress.. |
