Wedding Reception
Catering Tasting Event

Last night FH and I went to a tasting event our choice catering company had. It was free to attend, early registration only. We had a BLAST. The room was fully decorated as a reception with a live jazz band and an open bar. With tons of appetizers being passed, food stations set up, a carving area. My FH insists that he needs to be a part of all food choices and pretty lets gives me full reign of everything else. So, he fully enjoyed himself last night as well. We tried everything from Eye of Round, turkey, chicken, salmon, mahi mahi, omg...the list goes on and on. The dessert station was amazing as well, a full popcorn bar with mini take out boxes, fruit parfaits, a cupcake tower, mini donuts...

We definitely knew we wanted buffet and we went around making notes of what we really liked overall we think we can say we know what we would like our menu to be now. There was one appetizer they didnt serve last night that we would like to have, an avocado egg roll and asian slaw so we are hoping for another tasting even some time towards the end of the year, so we can try that.

They had some beer from a local brewery, Hanger 24 which is brewed in our city of Redlands, so we are thinking of including that at our bar as well. Give a little bit more of a personal touch to our big day.

We are both thoroughly enjoying our wedding planning process and I hope all you lovely fantastic brides out there are doing the same!!

Glad you enjoyed the tasting! That sounds like a lot of food. How will you choose?! lol!

The beer will be a nice touch. Did you get pics of the popcorn bar?If so, can you post them?  I believe that's what I want and I'm getting pretty close to confirmation. You know how I go back and forth w/ stuff. :)

Are you trying different catering places or are you definitely going to choose them now after tasting?

I didn't get a picture of the popcorn bar, they had a large silver stainless steel looking bowl, 2 of them actually filled w/ popcorn and then the small take out boxes filled in front and around them, so people could either fill them up, just grab one and go or eat on it throughout the night.  I really liked it, it was different and a great snack if your reception runs later through the night.  They had a garlic & sea salt, a carmel corn and a truffle one, but I dont really remember that one.

And yes, we are going with this catering company for sure.  They are a catering company through the local college and they do tons of events, very good food.  And they come with all the linens and table settings, they provide their own bartender for only $150 extra.  So they are definitely the way to go.
