Over the weekend

The big news of course was that I got my dress!! Still SO excited. On Saturday I'm going to take it my G-parent's house and show it off. My Gram is super excited over the pics already and says it's the perfect princess dress. I'm of course I'm their princess <3 She says ever since I was younger I've always said I wanted a long train and it's just as she pictured it. My Grandpa is walking me down the aisle, so it will be a special moment.

But that wasn't the only thing I did over the weekend. On Saturday my mom and I went to a store I found online that supposedly had dyeable shoes. It has been hard for me to find any online, so I thought it might be a good idea to pick out a style I like and just have them dyed. When we showed up of course, they didn't have diddly squat! UGH! We decided then to stop by Party Plus Rentals and see what they offered. They have a show room set up with alot of the equipment they rent, so we could get a good idea of what they supplied. They have the white padded chairs I wanted as well as round tables for the guest book table and the alter table plus linens. We also want to get some outside "park" lights for the reception. We are not sure that there is great lighting at the Carriage House, which is within a park so we wanted to add additional lighting. The bar will be set up on the patio and I'm sure alot of people will hang out there.

After that we drove around to about 3 florists around my apt in Redlands. Of course none of them were very helpful and I was quite annoyed. They all wanted me to come back and talk to some other person that handled weddings. it seems like that is the case a lot. The last one had me make an appointment and they sit down and show you examples of what they can do, along with books of pictures and such. They also offer rentals as well, like Party Plus. But I'm not sure if i want to go through them. I'll have to decided at my appointment with them in a couple of weeks I suppose. I am really only wanting a florist for the corsages and boutonnieres. I am planning on doing the bouquets myself. I previously posted about the bridesmaid's bouquet. And I have the flowers for mine bought already and all wrapped up and stored. We are using phalaenopsis orchids, in white and pink. I have included some pics of the flowers and ideas.

On the tables at the reception, we will have a 24" cylinder vase, with a white stem of orchids, then 3 7" cylinder vases with pink orchids and a round pillar candle, then small votives with our damask wraps, all lit. Then a sprinkles of diamond confetti around the vases. The small votives w/ the wrap that includes our names and wedding date, ppl can take those home, there will be enough. And I'm thinking about doing a light in the larger 24" vase, at the bottom, to light it up. I think in the pictures, it looks really pretty. Or do you ladies think that the small votives and the 7" pillars will light the taller one up enough?
