So my FH and I were working on our invitations last weekend. We are having a small disagreement on 2 things.
1. Do we word the invite with the along with our parents invite you to our wedding and stuff or Mr & Mrs X along with Mr & Mrs Y invite to the wedding of their children and stuff??? My FH wants our parents names, I'm not too sure since my father is re-married and putting my mother is not an option anymore.
2. Is were to put the dinner/recption info. I'm wondering how other brides are handling this. Are you putting in the invite or on a seperate card with the invite??
I thought this was going to be one of the easier things to get done. LOL
"Reception to follow at six oclock in the evening
Henrietta Banquet Hall
168 Main Drive
City, Province/State"
If the reception is at a different location, it goes on a reception card with that information.
For the wording on the invitation, I had a similar dilemma. My parents are paying for half the wedding and I wanted to have just their names on it, but I didn't want to rub salt in the wound with my FI's parents (there are other reasons their names were not going to be on the invite), so I just used
"Together with our parents
First Middle Last --->brides name here
and
First Middle Last --->grooms name here
Request the honour of your presence ("request the pleasure of your company" is used in this place if it is held outside of a church)"
Hope that helps. You can also check out www.verseit.com for other wording ideas that might give you a solution. Normally whichever parents are footing the bill for the wedding will have their names on the invite. So if both sets of parents are paying, both sets of parents should have their names on the invite, if only one set of parents is contributing financially to the wedding, then only their names would go on the invite.
Hope this helps. Happy planning!
We just wrote the wedding ceremony at 3pm.....you could always write with reception to follow at..............
