The favors something simple but cute...
I was thinking of wine bottles with personalized labels.

THE BIG DAY!!! Part 2: after the ceremony
We had perfect weather the whole day, and didn't realise but we'd timed out photos to fall right on sunset which was awesome.
The only problem with the whole day (and I was pretty angry!) was our photographer - he was completely not creative and could only do line up and smile. We had to suggest every pose, he didn't listen, and then only took one photo of each group etc. Thank goodness we still had some great shots come out, but the stress was awful when the whole day was supposed to be really chilled out. Idiot photographer aside... The reception was awesome, the food was AMAZING and the bar tab seemed to go on forever. We did the one dance and then mingled with our friends til the wee hours and had a great time. It was pretty amazing, and after hearing my husband's speech I was really blown away with how truly lucky I am. |

THE DAY!!! part 1: Afternoon
FINALLY I'm putting up some photos
Finally thought I'd complete this by adding some photos from our wonderful day.
Fiji was the absolutely perfect choice and I loved our resort (Mango Bay resort on the Coral Coast). Everyone had an absolute blast for the week we were there, and we partied every night, guitar in hand. I thought a few people wouldn't enjoy it there as it's an eco-resort with no TV, telephone and the world's slowest internet but no one cared. The day itself was awesome, although my advice is don't just have coffee and No-Doz and not eat. You will feel sick by dinnertime. |

Hen's night
A kick ass night (after a couple of wee organisational issues)
My hen's night was SO much fun! Two of my friends did such an awesome job of putting everything together, especially at short notice as my head bridesmaid decided (after months and MONTHS of me asking her to let people know the date and cost) that it was too much work and she didn't want to do it.
So my awesome buddies stepped in an organised me such a great day! We started at my friend's place for drinks, games and questions about Tim (which I was actually not that great at being put on the spot and had to pay the penalty of tequila jelly shots), then we went to a private poledancing class for a couple of hours (and more drinks). The poledancing was SO much fun! Everyone - about 25 of us - had a great time and I had loads of positive comments about it for the following week! After poledancing we went to Troy, a Persian restaurant, for an awesome dinner and they got me up with the resident belly dancer. After that we went out for a dance and for me to complete my tasks. An AWESOME time all round. |

Weight loss!
I know it's something on a lot of people's minds for their big day, and we worked really hard on it!
A combination of healthy eating, a lot of exercise (man I hate running) and mostly giving up drinking or swapping to low carb beer (for him) and vodka and light cranberry (for me) helped us to lose over about 4 months: Me - 11kgs (about 24lbs) Him - 14kgs (about 31lbs) We're trying to keep it up now we're home as well. Also this book was AWESOME for easy exercises and exercise patterns! |

Order of ceremony
We had a bit of an odd ceremony, we kind of had our friend MC it then the Reverand stepped in just to do the official bit, but this is what we decided on:
Processional - Brooke Fraiser "Arithmetic" Welcome, an explanation of what love is, our story - our friend Personal vows - our friend Official explaination of marriage & love - Reverand Official vows - Reverand Declaration of marriage - Reverand Recessional - Queen "You're my best friend", followed by the Beatles "Here comes the Sun" This was our explanation of love: "To some people love is all hearts and flowers, grand gestures, expensive gifts, romantic poetry and Corinthians chapter 13. To others it has a slightly more grounded meaning. It can be tickets frozen in ice, man flowers of beer at work, appreciating the difference between Marvel and DC, and Goody Goody Gumdrops icecream runs. Love isnt just a feeling, its something you do, even if its just waking up with your best friend every morning, or realising youve found someone you want to grow old with. When we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into a mutually satisfying weirdness that is called true love " |

Readings
We're not religious or publically mushy and romantic so finding readings to suit our personalities was actually quite tough!
These are the 2 we decided on: From the movie Love Actually: Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think of the arrivals gate at the airport. General opinions starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I dont see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often its not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but its always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the twin towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. And if you look for it, Ive got a sneaking suspicion that love actually is all around. From The Two of Us by the Mr T Experience (no I'm not kidding!): "Now there are two of us, instead of only one, two times as many things get left half undone. They'll say the two of you will never be one of us. But even if that's true, they'll have twice as much to do when there are two of us, and one of them is you. Two lives are semi-rough with half the rent and twice the stuff. There are two of us, and that should be enough. Look at everybody. Everybody's always falling apart or breaking up. But the two of us never will be one of those, and I should know I have had a run of those Our love's not guaranteed, but it's growing like a weed. There are two of us, I think that's all we need." |

Table cards & centre pieces
We didn't want to have people sitting at numbered tables because we didn't want them feeling less important than anyone else! So we had named tables from movies we like:
The Head Table was "Blue Harvest (A New Hope)" because Tim is a Star Wars fan My family was at "The Goonies" His family was at "The Land that Time Forgot" and the 2 friends tables were "Labyrinth" and "Dazed and Confused" The luggage tag of who was at which table got a little beaten up on the flight home! Centre pieces didn't go so well, the fishbowls weren't the ones we'd ordered, the neck was much narrower so when we put in the floating gold candles they went black then sort of exploded a little... but it really didn't matter in the scheme of things! |

Wedding Cake
We didn't actually even know what shape the cake was until the day, we just asked for something chocolate, 2 tiered with plain white icing. It wasn't exactly plain icing - there was some interesting texture going on - but we didn't care, it's just a cake.
We brought up the ribbon to match the girls dresses and the Spiderman and Mary Jane for a bit of fun. The photos in the background are parents and grandparents wedding photos from both sides, it was important that we had something for people that couldn't make it, and both sets of parents loved it too. |
