The Proposal

(aka: the refined bogan approach)

We were actually set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, we met for the first time at a restaurant in Takapuna, figured out who we were, sat down and started talking. Half an hour later the waitress came to get our order and we hadn't even opened our menus. After a dinner with no awkward silences he drove me down onto Takapuna beach in his jeep right up to the waters edge under a full moon and we talked so easily and I think I fell in love right then!
We'd been together for just over a year and a half, and had just moved in together when we went away to Wellington (we live in Auckland NZ) for a big rock concert that he'd bought me platinum tickets and flights to for Xmas - both of which he'd made a scavenger hunt for me to find and had hidden them inside a block of ice (A for effort!).  Hardly traditional but still very sweet and thoughtful he waited until after my favourite act - Ozzy Osbourne - when we got back to the hotel room and he asked then.
It didn't matter how or when I just was so happy to know I'm spending the rest of my life with him.
