Ask a Question
Confused about colors & decorating..
My colors are blush/pale pink, dusty rose, silver & crystals as my accent color. (Just like my STD, picture in blog somewhere, lol) Majority of the stuff will be in the different shades of pink, but I dont want everything to look like someone spilled a huge bottle of Pepto-Bismol, lol. I do want to keep with a theme. I dont want it all to be a mess, Im really OCD when it comes to this. I want things to be well coordinated.
So far Im almost positive that I want the BM's dresses to be in pink, and flowers too, but somewhere in the mix I want silver thrown in. And I know that I want my cake to be white buttercream with blush pink ribbon on each tier with silver dots/crystals. I want a monogram topper but should it have pink or clear crystals? When it comes to decorating the ceremony and reception Im like so confused. Alls I know is that I want votives, some flowers here and there, and crystal accents. Oh yeah, and I want a crystal tree, lol. In your opinions what should be done in pink(s) or in silver? Where or what should I accent with the crystals? ♥ me |

Wedding Decoration
Votives & candles
I love the look of candles or in this case votives. I want them all over the place at our wedding, on the tables, ceremony aisle, cocktail hour..You name it, it will have votives, lol. I think it looks so romantic especially since I would want the lights to be a little dim. I just hope we dont burn the place down, haha.
Where could I find some decently priced frosted(?), not the clear ones, votive holders? And light pink votives too? ♥ me Picture #4 is a cute way of decorating or enhancing a votive holder. Im thinking of doing that minus the bow. |

NWR
Flu & H1N1
I work in a pediatricians office and all this Flu business is getting crazy. I know for sure that the media is making crazier, but its something that shouldnt be taken lightly..
I just wanted to share with you ladies some important information so that you or your families dont come down with any of the Flus right before your wedding or while still planning. Prevention & Treatment Get Vaccinated. Vaccination is the best protection against contracting the flu. You need two vaccines to be fully protected this year. The seasonal flu vaccine is different from the H1N1 (Swine) flu vaccine. The CDC is encouraging people to get both vaccinations. Get the seasonal vaccination as soon as possible and get the H1N1 (Swine) flu vaccination as soon as it is available in early fall. There is also a Flu mist that is available for those healthy, non asthmatic people between the ages of 2-49. Find a Flu Clinic Near You and Get Vaccinated. The American Lung Association (ALA) has an online tool called, Flu Clinic Locator. Visit the ALA Flu Clinic Locator to find a clinic near you. If you do contract the flu, talk to your doctor about antivirals. Antiviral drugs are prescription medicines (pills, liquid or an inhaler) that can be used for prevention or treatment of flu viruses. If you get sick, antiviral drugs can make your illness milder and make you feel better faster. Two types of antivirals, Oseltamivir (TAMIFLU®) and Zanamivir (RELENZA®) may be effective against the H1N1 (Swine) flu. Take these everyday steps to protect your health: Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way. Try to avoid close contact with sick people. Stay home if you are sick for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep from infecting others and spreading the virus further. Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures. If you must have close contact with a sick person (for example, hold a sick infant), try to wear a facemask or N95 disposable respirator. Hope this helps so that everyone can stay HEALTHY and HAPPY :) Shoot, I go through a thing of Lysol or Clorox wipes in less than a week. Im constantly wiping and disinfecting. And I always have Purell or some antibacterial on hand. I refuse to get sick, on in that matter have anyone at home get sick with this crazy Flu stuff.. |

Ask a Question
Monogram cake topper
Like a lot of the other WBC brides, I want to have a monogram cake topper for our cake. But I just dont know if I should just get one already made, like the crystals already on it or if I should just order the monogram and add the crystals myself?
If you had one or will have one, did you DIY or did you buy it already made and ready to use? Where did you buy/order it from? I dont want a cheapie looking one nor do I want to spend an arm and a leg on it. Also when it comes time to ordering one or DIM, should I get it with regular/clear crystals or pink ones? My cake is going to have pink ribbon around each tier with silver dots.. |

Signature frames
Where did you purchase your signature frame from?
I went to Michaels yesterday evening and a saw a couple of them but wasnt sure which one to get. There was one for $24.99, I think, but the matte part wasnt that wide. What I mean by that is that I think it held an 8 x 10 picture, so there wasnt a lot of room for signatures. There was another one for $16.99, but the frame part was skinny and not as nice. And when I asked a cashier if the matte part could be used for signatures, he told me "No".. So I left with NADA!!!! I really want to get one, as I am trying to buy things little by little. TIA! |

Wedding day beauty
Makeup and beauty tips
I was Googling makeup and wedding day beauty tips and I came across this:
Every bride wants to be stunning on her wedding day. With the right products and preparation, you can achieve a gorgeous look that enhances your natural beauty. Here are 14 tips to help you stay refreshed and beautiful all day long. 1. Be careful what you eat and drink the night before Avoid drinking too much alcohol or eating spicy foods the night before your wedding. Alcohol can dehydrate you and your skin, making you look tired. Spicy food can also make you look flushed, making your skin tone uneven. I am sure you will want to have a little bit of champagne or wine at your rehearsal dinner, but be careful not to drink too much. Keep drinking water throughout the night to keep hydrated. 2. Drink Cool Water It is very important to keep drinking cool, refreshing water throughout the day. The more hydrated your body stays, the more awake and stunning your skin will look as well. Try putting a couple of cucumber slices in the water. They are known for having cooling properties and will keep you from getting flushed. Keep sipping throughout the day 3. Avoid Heavy Creams Heavy cream moisturizers can make your skin feel nice, but after a short time under pressure, they can make you perspire. Creams will start to weigh you down and might even begin to make your skin feel a bit greasy throughout the day. Instead, try using a light moisturizing body wash in the shower. Just before you get out, rinse with cool water so that you leave the shower cool and refreshed. This is especially important in the summer months or if you are having your reception or wedding outside in the sun. 4. Use Moisture Absorbing Powder When you get out of the shower and are dried off, dust a little bit of moisture absorbing powder all over your body from your bra line to your feet. Nerves can make brides sweat, which can lead to problems with your undergarments and hosiery. The powder will keep you fresh and dry throughout the day. 5. Use A Strong Anti-persperant The night before your wedding, put on a strong anti-persperant like Secret Clinical Strength. Reapply after your shower as well for all day protection. Just be careful that you don't have residue left under your arms or on your dress. 6. Keep the Frizz Down Avoid using alcohol-based gells on your hair and try a calming serum instead. Apply a small amount while your hair is still damp to keep any frizz down. 7. Try using a Mattifying Gel If you have oily skin or are worried about extra shine throughout the day, try using a mattifying gel. Apply a small amount to clean skin before applying your foundation or any other makeup. 8. Use the right shade of Foundation and Concealer Make sure to test the color of your foundation and concealer ahead of time. Some people have a tendency to go too light with their concealer, but that actually does the opposite of what you want, bringing dark circles and blemishes to the top. Mix a bit of the concealer with your foundation to make sure the shade and tone is consistent, then apply to blemishes or problem areas lightly 9. Use a Foundation Brush When applying your foundation, use a brush! Using your fingers or a sponge can leave your skin oily and shiney. 10. Use Kleenex to remove extra oils After you have put on your foundation and blush, press a Kleenex against your skin. This will remove any extra oils on your skin and leave pure pigment instead. You will see the benefits of this in your photos when your skin looks beautiful and shine free. Keep Kleenex or Oil Obsorbing Blotting papers on hand throughout the day and especially during pictures to control any extra shine 11. Use Light Layers When you start applying makeup to your eyes, it is best to use light layers rather than putting a ton of one color on your lids. Start with pale white or natural tone and then build from there, layering the colors. This helps the makeup to stay on longer, even if you are going to be in the heat of the sun. 12. Play up your Eyelashes Make sure to play up your eyelashes and your eyeliner. It will really make your eyes stand out for the pictures! If you decide to use fake eyelashes, all you need is a single lash. If you start to go for the double lashes, they can look pretty fake. 13. Take time with your Lips I have found that the best process when applying lipstick is to take your time and apply in layers. Start by lightly powdering your lips, which gives the color a firm base to hold onto. Then use your lip pencil to outline your lips and also to fill in your entire lip. Next, apply your chosen lipstick over the pencil color, blot, dust with powder, and apply again. 14. Practice Ahead of Time Whether you are doing your own hair and makeup or you are hiring a professional, you do not want to leave your wedding look to chance. Take some time to look through some bridal magazines and fashion magazines, cutting out pictures of what you like best and would like to try. Then, set up a date to "audition" your wedding look. Play around with different combinations and speak up about what you like and what you don't. Take notes about what products you finally decided to use and which lipcolor, etc, so there will be no guesswork when the big day finally arrives!! Long, but pretty helpful, especially for those brides that are going to do their own makeup. |

Wedding Cake
How did you decide which baker(y) to use?
Me and FH though that doing cake tastings would be the best part of this whole planning process. To say the least, it really hasnt. We thought that when you go for a tasting, they actually give you a piece of cake, not just a bite of cake..How can you get an actual sense of how its gonna be with just a bite? Come on, It just teases the tastebuds, LOL!
We've gone to 4 different tastings now, and we still havent decided which one we are going to use. Its gotten to be a bit confusing and a headache. We dont want to spend an arm and a leg on a cake, but we want a good quality one too. How and when did you decide which person or bakery was going to make your cake? And how many tastings did you do before choosing? FH told me that within the next 2 weeks we should make a choice..Im getting worried that we wont have/find THE one.. ♥ me |

Ask a Question
When should we send out..
Our save the dates?
We dont have very many OOT guests, but our wedding is on Memorial day weekend. According to some people and etiquette, I should be sending them out soon. But I feel like its TOO soon. But if I send them out later, like say in Nov or Dec, Im afraid they will get lost in the holiday shuffle. Is January too late or just enough time?? Should I also send our STD's to those local guests that I feel need an early notice of our wedding date? Should I bother sending them out to co workers? (I mean they wont be able to forget since that all I talk about at work, LOL) Thanks! ♥ me |

Wedding Flowers
Florists & Bouquets
Im glad that I have you guys to consult with because Im getting a little nervous about the floral aspect of our wedding.
I dont want flowers all over the ceremony site maybe just on the aisle runner and in that case they will probably be fake petals. Nor do I want them used all over the reception.I havent decided upon a centerpiece, so Im not sure if we will use flowers or not for that. I dont even want flowers on my cake! Maybe SOME petals on the cake table, not sure yet though. YES- I am anti-flowers, LMAO! So basically as of right now all the flowers I would need from a florist would be for my bouquets, 1 to toss and 1 to keep, which may consist of roses and some other not too expensive flower, the guys boutinneiers, and the moms' corsages. I really like pomanders, and Im almost 100% sure that thats what I want my BM's to carry rather than a regular bouquet. I also want my FG's to hold a pomander each. I really dont want the pomanders to be real flowers though bc I know the girls will want to keep them. I was going to DIY all the pomanders but when I saw the amount of $ I spent on just getting supplies for my trial pomander, and I saw an Etsy seller that does really nice ones for a good price, I decided against it. If this Etsy seller does end up doing the pomanders for me, they're going to be silk roses in 2 different shades of pink. But again, I havent decided whether I want them all to be the same or what, grrr.. When should I start consulting with a florist? What questions should I ask? And what other flowers could I use along side pinkish roses? I do like Peonies but I've read they can get $$.. I've attached a few bouquet ideas that I like.. #1 and #2 are my favorites. |

Hello, Lover!
Shoes, shoes & more shoes
Here are a FEW, lol, of the shoes that I like. I'm just not sure which pair would look best with my dress. Im guessing I would have to decide which one I like first and try them on. I also assume that by the time I go for my first alteration appointment, in January, I should have the shoes that I will be wearing so that my alterations lady can have a better idea of how much hemming needs to be done.
I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and I worry that I wont be able to wear heels all night. Do you ladies suggest that I also get a pair of flats, or just wear some slippers or flip flops if I cant do the heels anymore?! Or should I just go with flats or not too high heels?! (Im afraid I wont find a nice enough pair..but I really need to be comfortable) Also since my dress isnt pure white should I get white shoes or ones that come close to my dress color? My wedding colors are 2 different shades of pink & silver, but dont think I want to wear pink shoes with my dress, its cute, but just not me. I also dont want a super expensive shoe, so no Louboutins for me..LOL! Suggestions please! BTW~The main shoe is my FAVORITE :) |
