I am borrowing my best friends (my bridesmaid) as my something borrowed. It is ivory with champagne accents (like my dress) and is still in great condition because she was married in September. I am going to have it steamed a day or so before and ta-da! It saves me $80 from David's and it was the same veil I wanted.
I was iffy about the idea because my father has passed and so has my mother, so the traditional meaning was lost on me. But, as someone in the bridal boutique told me "Until you add a veil, you just look like a pretty girl in a white dress. But, with the veil, you look like a pretty bride". Obviously, she just wanted to sell the whole ensemble for more commission, but when we went back and I told her my bridesmaid was letting me borrow the same veil, she seemed genuinely happy that I had chosen to wear one.
As far as when I'm wearing it--during the ceremony, for semi formal pictures and then until it starts to bother me and I take it off!
