Ask a Question
Wedding on a Sunday??

Anyone else planning their wedding on a Sunday? The date we chose is significant to us but happens to fall on a Sunday. What are the pitfalls of a Sunday wedding if any? Most venues charge a little less so thats a positive. I'm thinking about 2:00 in the afternoon so it will not interfere with church.

I am having a Sunday morning brunch. It is from 11:00am to 4:00pm. I dont know how it is going to turn out. I just believe there is no rule that says it has to be a saturday night, get down and party thing. And you will save money

Here's the con that I would think of:
Most guests will have to work the day after and will be conscious of time and drinking (if you plan on a crazy party /dance it might not be quite as crazy as you hoped for).  ...but it would still be a good time.

I've only been to one wedding on a sunday but it was a christian wedding with the reception in the church gym so there was no drinking or dance.  It was a great wedding, I really enjoyed it.  But if they had had drinking and a dance I probably would have that it was a hassle to have had it on a sunday....cause if I wanted to drink I'd have to work in the morning and would want to leave early and whatnot...
...yours seems to be early enough though that it might not be an issue anyhow...

My wedding is also on a Sunday. Unfortunately we recieved no discounts  from the ceremony and reception locations for the event being on a Sunday.  We were able to secure a band at less than half the cost because they were already in the area playing for a wedding that Saturday.  The hair dresser and makeup artist also gave me a discount for coming out on sunday but that was only because of a referral from a previous client.
The rental company which was closed on Sunday charged us a enormous fee for Sunday delivery and set up because they are closed on Sunday.  We were able to negociate with the cake for a $200 discount.
I was not really concerned about the guest.  I did figure that since Monday was a work day maybe the guest would not drink as much alchol and it would save our consumption charge. LOL.

I originally wanted to have my wedding on a Sunday for a significant reason too, but my mom said absolutely not so we moved it back 1 day! I HONESTLY see nothing wrong with having it on Sunday!!!

My moms reasonings were. OTG (Out of town guests) will have to drive home that night to get back to work & a lot of our family goes to church in the morning & church in the evening. It might make your OTG not even come for 1 of these reasoning so I compromised!! I still would like mine to be on a Sunday, but its alright!! :D

Stick with your Sunday date especially because the date is significant to you!! The ppl who matter most will be there if it is a problem! :)

We're having a Sunday wedding. We chose a significant date and decided to just go with it since we wanted to do a smaller brunch wedding and everyone we know goes out for brunch on Sundays. We're having it 12:00 - 4:00 so churchgoers can go to one of the earlier masses and then still make it there in time.

Having it on a Sunday afternoon, we figured most people won't want to hang around for a long time so we booked the venue for 4 hrs instead of the usual 8. By having it on a Sunday and for 1/2 time we got 50% off our venue costs which was a huge help and allowed us to have a venue we wouldn't have afforded otherwise. And buy doing a brunch we can do a big buffet for less than a dinner or appies would have cost.

I think there are a lot less rules about weddings now a days and everyone makes them to fit their own desires, budgets and interests...that's why you see so many themed weddings. So I say pick the day that means something to you and bonus if it saves you money too :)

We're having a Sunday wedding because of the lower price, and it worked out that we could have it on my grandparents anniversary, who were married for 62 years! We picked it on a long weekend, so the Monday is a stat holiday, hopefully people won't have to rush home for work.

We haven't decided if we're having alcohol or not and I'm not interested in partying all night so Sunday should be fine. I'm glad I'm not the only "Sunday" bride =)
