Lunch with Vendors?

I'm curious as to what others are doing as far as meeting with prospective vendors (photographers, florist and such) I'm planning on making an appointment with a photographer and I was thinking of taking him to lunch that way he gets meet us and to know us a little more than he would with a phone call. How are you meeting with vendors? My DJ was booked at an open house at our venue

we met our photographer at his house and sat around in his living room for an hour or so discussing what we wanted. we booked our dj through our hall so we haven't met him yet, but everyone else we've either booked through email or phone.

once we get a little closer to the date (3 months away) we're going to meet with each vendor specifically. i would probably guess over coffee though instead of lunch.

So far we've opted to meet in larger coffee places such as Starbucks or Panera. This way if someone is hungry there is food available, but also so that if you stay for a while no one really seems to care.

I met them all at Starbucks, except the caterer, I went to her restaurant and we met the owner of the chapel and hall at the chapel.

We met our photographer at Starbucks, the DJ at an open house and caterer at a Bridal Show (but we went into the restaurant to taste the food).  Shoot, right now I can't even think of the vendors that we have.
