Are you selling your dress after the wedding?

I was thinking about this last night. What are you girls going to do with your dress after the wedding?

-Are you going to sell it & try to get half of what you paid for?

-Are you going to keep it and "preserve" it?

I'm really not sure what i'm going to do. I just wanted to see what you were going to do and why? :)

Hmm, I've been wondering about this too. Part of me thinks it would be cool if a friend or one day my daughter would want to use it. But it's more than likely going to end up in a box somewhere. I'm leaning toward keeping it....because I'd rather be safe than sorry :)

Right now I'm leaning more towards keeping it (maybe doing a Trash the Dress photo session) because my dress was only $500 taxes included. I don't selling it would be worth the money I'd get back.

I am selling mine.... I don't really want to preserve and store it the rest of my life... and chances our if I have any daughters they won't be same size as me and/or the dress will be "out-of-style" by then. So I am going to make some money back...

I am selling.  I'd like to keep it but I know I don't need it and it will help reduce the overall cost of our wedding.  If I had been able to find it used it the first place I would have bought it used.  I am planning on selling a lot of things.

I have no idea....honestly..... im torn. I dont know what the heck ill do with the big thing but selling it for 1/4 of its worth does not appeal to me....but either does sticking it in a big box for 20 years. I am contemplating donating it to a charity.... i know there are some where women cant afford a wedding and need a dress so this just helps them out. good cause id say. but i still dont know lol

I have not sold mine... I am keeping it as one memory of our Big Day... I know it may be not economically correct, but it is one of the things I wanna keep and share with the future generations...

I'm selling mine... i'd really prefer to sell it before the wedding! lol...

But i figure that styles change so much, and i think that my daughter would pick something totally different anyway. Plus I spent a good little chunk on mine, and would prefer to recoup some of the money and put it towards being able to take a honeymoon.

I love my dress so much, I think I might wear it around the house for a few days, lol ha ha.  Told FH not to be surprised if he comes home from work to find me doing dishes in my dress :)o
But seriously, I am leaning towards doing a Trash the Dress session...I think they are soooo cool.

I'm selling my dress on ebay as soon as I get back from the honeymoon. I have no desire to go through a trash the dress shoot and my daughter would probably not be able to fit it when she gets married and styles change so much i'm sure she is going to want something completely different. Plus we will need the money for Christmas after paying for the wedding, lol.

you know.. i'm not sure yet :(  I love reading stories on here how girls' moms used parts of their dress to make one thing or another for their day,.. so special..  I know my daughter wouldn't want to wear my dres... I sure as heck wouldn't wear my moms! lol  But I'm actually going to talk to my mom to see if I can use some of her dress to add to my garter or purse or something.. as my something borrowed... and then a broach from my grandmas as my something old or vise versa :) so maybe I will keep it.. I dunno :(

Hey ladies I am just in the beginning stages of getting an online used formal gowns (wedding and graduation) and it's free to list! I just keep a percentage if an when your dress is purchased or rented (optional for you to offer) The website is not fully functional yet but I do have quite a few listed on "Dress Rentals" and "Summer's Modern Bride" on Facebook! Feel free to contact me if you'd like to give it a try. I only have about 10 dresses right now and I have people calling me almost everyday looking for certain styles.

I don't plan to pay a lot for my dress.. I want something simple, chiffon, beachy... so I may wind up keeping it.  I think it would be nice to keep in case I wanted to renew my vows or pass it on to my daughters, etc.
