How much are you paying?

I was looking at some pictures from a photographer i'm considering (he used to go to my school) and i asked him how much he would charge. He charges $2,300 for engagement, bridals, wedding day coverage, print package, and all the wedding photos on a disc! Is that to much? When he told me that price, my mouth dropped! His pictures are gorgeous though.. lol so i really want him to take my pictures, but i don't know if i can pay that much.

I was just wondering what you ladies are paying for your pictures! All your pictures are so pretty, so i want to see how much photography runs where you girls live!!!

well we looked on craigslist we got our e-photos for free and our wedding day coverage will b for 500

I feel like that is a fair price.  The first photographer that I looked at charged $2600 for all that. I really wanted her but our date was already booked.  So after looking around I found another for $1800 for all the stuff as well.  I dont think $2300 is too bad for photographer, which i feel is one of the most important things

Our package with e-pics, bridal, Boudoir (on contract says alterations, so hubby wont know), and wedding day is $987.

I am paying 1400.00 for video and photography 6 hours, a large print , the engagement session and sign in frame. this is in L.A where everything is through the roof, I suggest you ask if maybe he can give you a discount. everyone starts off at (2400) but if you dont get the prints right away and negotiate the hours you probably can lower it, Thats how I did it not only with one but two photographers give it a try you can always get prints after the wedding.

I think it's a good price too...the fact you'll get a disc is awesome b/c some photogs will NOT do that. They make you purchase prints which also are NOT cheap. This way you could upload to shutterfly or snap and print what you wanted and for CHEAP!

That's a pretty good price, especially since you get all the pictures! I was shocked at how many photographers charge that much and then charge you hundreds of dollars for the rights to the photos too!

Ours was $2900, (but we got $800 off since we know her), that was for engagements, (with all the photos on a DVD and an album), boudoir, (which I didn't do), full wedding day coverage, all the photos on a DVD, a stainless steel album with our photo etched onto the front, 2 'mother' albums, and photo thank yous.

Thats a pretty decent price. Ours is $1500 for 8 hrs of coverage, and $300 more if we want a coffee table album.

i would look around for a few more photographers in your area to compare prices.  Where I'm from this is a good deal.  Most of the photogs around here will give you the wedding day coverage and maybe the prints.  So to me it's a good deal, not sure around your area.  But you are getting engagement, bridals, and prints.  I didn't think photography was important but after my wedding when I saw my photographers pics...I loved them!   We ended up getting a really good deal with her--she was new starting out so she was cheaper.  I would definitely pay for good photos.  I've seen other photos from other photographers and not been impressed.  So if you like him, see what else you can cut out to afford it.

I am paying $1499.. my package includes engagement photos, coverage of the bride and the groom getting ready, the ceremony right through the reception till midnight.. plus I get a coffee table book, a bunch of prints, and all my pictures on a disc..

That is the cheapest I have found around here for an experience photographer.. Most of them start around $2500 and go up to god knows.. My brother hooked me up with mine, but i didnt get a discount on the photography.. plus $1499 is the most exspensive package they have, they start st $599.. but i was in shock at the prices because they were so low.. I was totally expecting to pay around $2500.. I got LUCKY!!

My photographer is going to cost me $250 including 2 photographers, all day, engagement photo session, rehearsal dinner. This is unlimited pictures and editing and the rights to the pictures. I found him on Craigslist.  He has been doing it for several years and he is in college for photography. If you go to my blog then you can go to his site and see his work.

I think this is a pretty good price.The package from my photographer is going to be $2300 and includes everything in your quote besides bridals.

honestly... I would expect anywhere from 1800-3500 for a good photographer... 1800 being on the very, very lax end of it. We paid $2000 for ours- he actually gave us $300 off the cost because him & I had gone to HS together. That included an engagement session & dvd (which we never did, so I'm doing a TTD instead), 3 photographers for the entire wedding day (from whatever time in the morning till whatever time at night) about 800 of the best photos on dvd in medium res to do as you please with, & a 300 photo online slideshow. everything else was a la carte.

I found an amazingly awesome photographer. She is relatively new but has done some weddings and those pictures turned out awesome. She really has a gift. She will give me a disk with all the photos and all the rights to the photos. The package is for 6 hours, which we don't even need all that. And guess the total! $300
But it really is a rarity to find a good photographer that cheap and she may not be as good as some of those $2000 ones but she really is very very talented and I see her improving with every wedding she shoots. I had to book her and sign the contract before her prices went up!

I think that's a fair price. I'm in Florida and for both photos and video I'm paying $2003 (with tax). I actually caught them during their summer special. They offer payment plans, so we only had to put down a deposit. Mine include 5 hr photo coverage, engagement photos (50 images) with a free16x20 photo, 2 coffee table digital albums, 3-5x10, 4-5x7, 20 wallets, website, 5hr video coverage, personalized titles, customized music, interviews and 2 DVDs.

The first one we booked was $2200 but we had to cancel her as we changed our date and as a result we lost $750 deposit OUCH. The second one we booked was $1650. These both include engagement photos

p.s you really do pay for waht you get, you may luck out but ultimately you have to determine how important photography is to you. If its REALLY important then its worth the money.. if only a bit then go midrange if not really then go cheap. Anyone under $1000 take warning

We're looking at approx $2000 for photographer - we're still picking but that includes 8-12 hours of coverage - depnding on who we go with, 2 photographers, CD of all images, DVD slideshow, coffee table book style wedding album, online gallery.  1 also includes an engagement session - which we already had, but then he said to just take it as an opportunity to see how they work and see if we can work with them. At no obligation if we don't like them - keep the e-session free.

You can keep looking if that's too much. I posted about this site before www.eventective.com - you can put in what you would like to pay for photography and your date, etc. and all the available photographers in your area - well alot of them - will contact you.

My photographer charges $650 for the first hour, and then $250 for each additional hour afterwords. I think you are getting a good deal.

Ooh.  I'm blessed to be paying only $425 for 200 photos, pre-wedding, ceremony, and reception. This entitles me to the CD of all pictures after he touches them up/photo shop and any other accents I want. etc. Thank You GOD !  If you're getting married in the DFW area, and are on a serious budget, check him out. Great Work!

Most advice i got while planning my wedding is BOOK a good photographer. you def get what you pay for yanno!? you will have your pics FOREVER!!!! that is whats going to reflect your wedding!! I say if you looove her book it ... But what is the time line?! like my photographer is there all day! lots of em charge by the hour tho!

300 bucks! A photographer friend from work. She's doing our whole day wedding photo's, and going to give me all the photo's on a disc :) I'm pretty darn pleased lol

I booked my photographer through craigslist. It cost 500 for the wedding day and full copy rights and photos on disc.

my photographer is 500 dollars...

including engagement pics, album, all day photography....

Also i hit the jackpot and he is usual charge is 3000 dollars... But he is a family friend who gave us a call and said that he would like to take our photos for us as a gift.. I was completely blown away by the offer and i cannot wait for the day to arrive! our engagement photos will be in the next two months after xmas has been and gone...
