Wedding Dress
Maggie Bride
I found my dress. It is Victoriana by Maggie Sottero in Ivory. I don't have pictures because when I went to try it on the first time my camera batteries went dead as soon as we turned it on.

The Proposal
Wishes
Dan and I have been dating for over 3 years. During this time his nickname for me has been "Princess." Since our first phone conversation we have shared incredible chemistry. To understand us as a couple more you have to realize that we found each other after we both suffered life altering losses. I am a widow. My loving husband of 22 years died suddenly of a brain tumor leaving me devastated. Dan's marriage ended when his wife declared that she wanted a divorce and forced him to leave his home. Torn from his children he felt that his life was over. We found comfort in each other. At the beginning as friends who supported and listened to the other vent. But as time went on our bond grew.
Over the years, we have dreamed of moving forward in our relationship but every time we tried we realized that we couldn't. You have to realize that blending six children and two households would not be easy. Try as we might, we just couldn't figure out how we could make it all work. So we kept putting our dream aside and living each day as it came. In July 2008, we attended a wedding of my oldest son's best friend in Disney World. It just so happened that the wedding was planned for the day before my birthday. Dan and I decided to stay a few extra days in Florida, just the two of us. Since his birthday was just a few weeks earlier we had decided not to exchange gifts this year because the trip was to be our gift. Dan loves to surprise me so he secretly planned a special birthday dinner for me. He only told me to dress nice before we left to go to dinner. We arrived at the Grand Floridian and sat down in the lobby. A gentleman approached, greeted Dan and escorted us to the third floor. I couldn't believe my eyes. There on a private balcony overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon was a table for two. Our personal butler served us a five course meal that Dan designed with all of my favorite foods. The view from the terrace was breathtaking. During dinner we watched the Epcot Illuminations firework show explode over the water. After that the Electric Light Parade sailed along in front of us with its many colorful lighted floats. Timing is everything and Dan had his own Disney magic working. Dessert was served as the first firework detonated over the Magic Kingdom for the Wishes show, a single flash, like a shooting star. The song that plays at that moment goes like this, "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish, I wish tonight. We'll make a wish, and do as dreamers do, and all our wishes (all our wishes), will come true." At that moment, Dan got up and walked over to me pulling something from his pocket. He unwrapped and presented to me with the most beautiful diamond ring. I was speechless. With fireworks lighting the sky he got down on one knee then asked me to marry him. I was in shock and it took me a moment to realize what was happening. Then, through my tears of joy, I managed to say "yes". We kissed and I knew that our wishes were finally coming true. He then said, I'd like you to meet Paul. He had hired a photographer to take pictures during his magical proposal and I never even noticed. This was the most romantic, magical night of my life. It was like a script from a fairytale. He thought of everything and I felt like a "Princess". All of our wishes are coming true. We have been dreaming of the day we could be married and it is almost here as our "happily ever after" will begin on July 18, 2009. |
