Wedding Invitation
questions
Looking for opinions with this. I have a rather large extended family with many aunts, uncles and cousins. We really want to keep our wedding small and affordable. Is it rude to just send the out of state family a wedding announcements, and not an invitation? These are people that communicate with a christmas card and that is it. What if I am close to one cousin and want to invite them but not their out of town sibling? I want to be polite, they are my family, but this is also our special day. When do we send the save the date. I say we do it when the venue is locked in. Isn't that right? When do you send invites? How do you set up a deadline for RSVP. What about b list guest, when do you invite them??

Wedding Reception
HELP!
Money is so tight right now that I am having trouble imaging us even having a wedding. Darryl has been laid-off for several months now and is having trouble finding a new job. I was sick for the end of July and the entire month of August. Was in the hospital 2x. UGH! It was aweful and so we had no income coming in. Meaning goodbye savings. :~(
Anyhoo! Was just wondering if any of the brides out there have ever heard of anyone having a potluck style reception? How about a dessert reception? Appetizer reception? I don't think we can afford a whole meal or buffet. I am freaking out a whee bit. HELP!!!!!!! |

Bridal Mendhi
Have any of the brides out there ever considered having mendhi done? I have always wanted to have this done, and the bride's maids are thinking it might be fun too.
The tradition of applying mendhi goes back thousands of years to religious and bridal rituals in India, Africa and the Middle East. Mendhi is of great significance in Hindu weddings. Traditional belief is that the darker the stain and the longer it remains on the brides hands and feet the deeper the grooms love for her. Some even believe that the more intense the stain, signifies the deep love the brides mother-in-law will have for her, therefore treating her kindly. According to more recent traditions the grooms name will be hidden in the design of the brides hands. The wedding night cannot commence until he finds it. |

Wedding Decoration
The Candle Carver
Actually saw this on another bride's post, but had trouble finding it on the link she had. Did a search and fount a "The candle carver website. This is such a cute idea. We are getting married at an Apple orchard that also pumpkins. Thought this would be really great with our fall theme. We had been planning on just appl, pumpkins and gourds as table centerpieces. This will just take it up an extra notch. YEEHAW!

Wedding Cake
yum
Darryl and I have an ongoing conversation about the flavor of cake. I want a simple carrot cake with cream-cheese frosting. I like the idea of it being covered with golden frosting with the bee-hive embossing. little bees made out of black jelly beans and marzipan with almond sliver wings and flowers to match the wedding theme and bouquets. Darryl likes the idea but wants a strawberry cake. A STRAWBERRY cake, do you believe it. I suggested a grooms cake right away! :~)
I think it would be so cool to get a Charm City Cake (Ace of Cakes) wedding cake, but there is NO way we could afford that. BUMMER! Also considering a fall decorated cake. Really digging the pumpkin and leaves idea. |

music
bridal march and processional
Darryl really wants me to come in to "Cinnamon Girl" by Neil Young, played on a 12 string guitar by our friend Ian. I kind of dig it. What do you think?? Here is an example, ours will be a bit softer and slower.
We are also considering having Kymmie our DJ play "I can see Clearly Now" by Jimmy Cliff for our processional. I love this song. What do you think?? We are considering coming into/being announced at the reception while the Theme from Star Wars plays. |

Wedding Flowers
bouquets
thinking about fall leaves, stalks of wheat or oat, sunflowers in orange, red and yellow. Like the idea of sprigs of cranberries in there too
Starting to rethink this bouquet thing. Why not just have fall leaves. Simple and beautiful. Colors will be perfect. Was search on the web for fall leave bouquets and came across this idea. Really kind of cool. http://haha.nu/creative/how-to-make-roses-from-maple-leaves/ I like just the plain ungarnished version. |

like this styl but with a long skirt and the color orange in a tonal variegation BurntOrange Paprika Red-orange Sunset-gold green amber cabachon this is an example of my sisters bead work. No necklace just the beading around the cabachon sort of like this, yet different. Hard to find a good example hemp silk charmeuse maybe like this? |
Bridesmaids
dress ideas
Having 3 bridesmaids and they really are my best friends. My younger sister Leelen is maid of honor, older sis Kristen is matron of honor, and my friend Suzanna is a bridesmaid. You couldn't ask for a better bunch. Dress ideas have been swimming around in my head. Been thinking about a design similar to my dress, yet in different material and a slightly different style. Sticking with the hemp silk charmeuse. Planning on having dress dyed orange with some tonal variegation. Also want my sister to do some bead work around a green amber cabachon and have it be attached to the belt area.
