We chose sand. It's still kind of a new modern thing today although alot of couples now do it. For me when I think about a candle...flames can and do go out where as the sand is more symbolic because you could never seperate it afterwards.

We are not doing one that I know of-but I would pick candle because it is more traditional

thanks for your help with my flower question!

and in response to yours i dont like the idea of either so we are doing communion with all of our guest.  i am not sure where you stand on religion but if you are religious it is another idea.

we're doing sand, i think it's a great newer idea and we will be able to keep the vase with our sand :)
