So excited
Our photographer is Marc Polidoro and I am so, so excited that he will be capturing our big day. When it comes to planning the wedding and making decisions, I am about as low-key as it gets. Don't get me wrong, I am excited to get married and considering that we've been engaged now for over two years I am eager for the day to arrive, but for me, the wedding is just one day and as long as my guests have a fun time and I go home with my hubby, it's all good to me! The one thing that really was important to me, however, was the photography. Since we are getting married at my fiance's parents house, we are planning every detail ourselves which is tiring but allows us to make the day exactly what we want it to be. I want to be able to look back and see all of our hard work for ourselves and our family and friends, and the love that Ryan and I have for each other. Marc takes AMAZING shots and I fell in love with his work instantly. Check it out! www.marcpolidorophotography.com

Delayed update
Wow, when I first joined this site my wedding plans were more like ideas/hopes that I had to put off until I graduated and we could actually have the wedding we wanted. Now I've graduated with a psych degree and I'm doing my post-grad to become a child and youth counselor. Aaand the wedding is in 94 days!!! I really want to share all of the progress that we've made since I joined this site so expect a blitz of posts from all aspects of the wedding :)

Centerpieces
I saw these adorable centerpieces on Etsy, the user's name is Braggingbags and I just love them! I think they would be just perfect for a summer backyard wedding. What do you think? The only problem is that we wouldn't need 12 and 175 dollars+ 40 dollars shipping is kind of a lot without flowers or candles or anything..hmmm

I was going to just upload a picture but it doesnt seem to be working so heres the etsy link http://www.etsy.com/listing/52384107/set-of-12-personalized-wood-tree-slice?ref=cat1_gallery_19

Ask a Question
i will be doing this a lot..
Here I am asking another question, which I will most likely be doing a lot of, at least at first. Who wants to give me the 411 on groom's cakes? I can honestly say I've never heard of this before. What's the purpose of them haha? Is it just supposed to be a cute surprise for the FH? Something a little more manly to offset all the flowers and frills? I've seen some pictures and they seem to often be smaller cakes in the shape of something "masculine" like a beer can or a football haha. I just find it fun to learn about all these things so if someone wouldn't mind explaining this to me :) Thank you

Chocolate Ask a Question Weird?

Ask a Question
Weird?
Okay, perhaps because we are having a longer engagement, Ryan and I aren't doing a lot of the things that I see other engaged couples doing such as having engagement photos taken, and parties and things. Are these things that EVERYONE generally does? I feel a lot of things factor into my not knowing much about the things that are "expected" to be done, mainly my age, my lack of sisters and my mom being older and slightly out-of-date haha..<3 you mom. I can't exactly throw my own engagement party, or can I? Are they different from showers? We're trying to save money for the wedding and a car so to me it seems like a waste of money to get pictures taken just to announce our engagement, or a party for the same reason. My friends and family know I'm engaged and they're happy haha..I guess I just want some advice as to how typical these sorts of things are and whether I should do them closer to our estimated wedding date or even at all..Thanks ladies :)

Chocolate The Proposal

The Proposal
Ryan and I had talked a lot about going on a little vacation together; nothing too far away because we didn't have enough money/time off to do that but a little getaway. For christmas this year, he gave me a guide book and tickets to New York! It was just an awesome present and we were so excited to go. The trip was scheduled for my reading week in February (aka spring break) which also happened to be right after my 21st birthday. Now, my favourite movie, despite the fact that it came out before I was even born, is When Harry Met Sally. It takes place in New York and there were a lot of little things I wanted to do like eat at Katz Deli (where Meg Ryan does her "famous scene" :P. The second day we were in New York, we went for lunch there and it was so yummy. Then we took a walk and went to see the Washinton Square Arch which is also seen in the movie (it's really pretty). By this time we had been walking around a lot and since the weather was pretty cold and rainy I wasn't in the best of moods but Ryan said there was one more place we had to go. He had to practically drag me along haha. Anyways, we eventually got to this building that I didn't recognize at all. Inside there were signs indicating that it had something to do with the publishing of some magazine. Needless to say I was very confused at this point and had no idea what we were doing there. Apparently we had an appointment however and this woman came downstairs and said she would give us a tour. We went upstairs and it was this huge open banquet hall with really beautiful arches and wood. She was telling us all about the original use of the building and the importance and everything, meanwhile I'm smiling and nodding and thinking what the hell is going on haha..As a die hard fan of When Harry Met Sally, I am sad to say that I didn't recognize the room as the scene at the end, at the New Year's Eve party where Billy Crystal runs to tell Meg Ryan that he loves her. So as this woman is giving the tour, she suddenly says she has to go and get some paperwork that she forgot and leaves. Ryan asks me if I know where we are and I say no haha..he explains and then starts to quote the part at the end of the movie where Billy Crystal names all the stupid little things he loves about Meg Ryan, only they're the stupid little things Ryan loves about me. He then took out the ring and he asked me to marry him :) I said yes of course and I managed not to full out cry but we were both teary. Then the lady came back in and I realized it was all a ruse haha! She knew all along and had actually been making all of the stuff up that she had said on the spot. She had never been asked to show the place before as it never really happens and is definitely not part of her job. So she deserves congratulations for pulling that off! It was surprising and romantic and very very cute. I couldn't have asked for anything more :)
