HELP...PLEASE RESPOND!!!!!!
CANDY BUFFET VS. ICE-CREAM BUFFET...which one?

I want my wedding to be different and stand out a little. I see that the candy buffet is getting really popular and I've seen them everywhere....from baby showers to adult parties. I know that some people have done ice-cream stations and I love ice-cream. I just don't know which one would go better at the wedding. I polled two of my bridesmaid and they both say ice-cream. I was actually thinking about having this company come make funnel cakes, but the girls reminded me that I already have a wedding cake that needs to be eaten lol. Plus, I guess cake and ice-cream just goes together.

Would you prefer a candy buffet or ice-cream buffet?

*I have already started collecting jars and scoops for the candy buffet, so I may just sell them or use the for my bridal shower.

Wow! I'm doing the candy buffet for my big day, but the ice cream buffet sounds great!! Also consider if you're having children at the wedding, it could get messy! Other than that, great idea!!! Love it!!

mmm ice cream sounds really good right about now LOL.

I would go with candy buffet only because for our dessert part of our meal it will be an ice cream dessert. I think the candy buffet looks cuter out of those two pictures LOL. But your really making me want ice cream right now :P

I had an ice cream buffet at my wedding and it was a HUGE hit.  Our caterers set-it up in serving dishes to match what we had on the tables and the actually ice cream was delivered to each table.  It was up to the guests to go to the buffet and create their sundae.  We also had chocolate fountains and the servers actually were able to use that on the ice cream as like a chocolate shell.  It was so yummy! Hope that helps :)

I say hey if you love ice cream go with the ice cream station. The candy buffet is very popular but do something different outside the box. My FH and I are doing the ice cream station because it is so us. We both loves ice cream so we will be having that. With 3 different flavors and 8 different toppings for guests to choose from.

It's such a hard decision. Our set-up would be a lot nicer and indoors of course. Me and the FH love Coldstone Creamery and they can cater the wedding. I'm waiting for the lady to email me with prices now.

I started this wedding process thinking I want to be different, and as you can see.....almost every bride is doing a candy buffet, so I'm like scratch that. I don't want people to be like, "oh, another candy buffet" (no offense to anyone). Who doesn't like candy? That's why I originally went with the idea. I don't know what I want now. I guess I need to brain storm some new ideas. I still love the funnel cake idea.

Here's the link to see what I'm talking about....

I did soft serve ice cream and then set up a candy buffet of sorts of toppings.  It was really yummy, we got so many compliments and I am so glad that we did it!  Ice cream all the way!

both are sweet, though personally I think I am more prone to the ice cream bar because it is not as common, as long as your venue can accommodate it without melting issues. awesome idea

maybe do both!! Have a little candy buffet to use for your ice cream, and then also a few other things so those that can't have dairy can still get the option to have the candy.

Thanks so much everyone...I really appreciate.

I LOVE that idea lori2314- so at least all my jars wouldn't go to waste. Plus, I just got my cute little jars the spell out LOVE.

I like lori's idea, you should do both. Make it like a, ice cream sundae bar, where they can put candy on their ice cream, then like she said for those who dont like ice cream/dairy they can just get the candy =)...I agree I wanted to do a candy buffet too, but I hear sooo many people doing it now, it doesnt seem unique anymore. I also have heard of a few people doing a smore buffet which is a little different or not as common, or a dessert buffet, but i guess that wouldnt work when your already getting cake huh?

I would do the ice cream buffet if it is in your budget!

We all have seen the candy buffet in my area..
It's not like that in all areas though.

We are doing a table with Cotton Candy, M&M's, and a few other of our favorites.

I personally think the candy buffet is getting a bit over played now. It was fun when it was knew and fresh but now everyone is doing it. I love the idea of an ice cream/dessert bar!!

Our caterer's options included ice cream with different toppings as a dessert so we picked that one!!  We are also doing a milk and cookie's buffet because I LOVE MILK AND COOKIES!!!!

I have seen the candy buffets everywhere too. Ice cream is different and special. I think in this case, know your guests. You don't want it to go to waste.

Ice-Cream!! I think it would be more fun!! Keep the jars and put oreo crumbs in one, and other candies in others for people to add to their ice cream. Yummy!

We will not have either at our wedding.

Some things I have to have....but will we will consider those things for some of our other celebrations.

My sons have had ColdStone set up at both of their birthday parties.
It was a huge hit for them.

ice cream is fun! I know everyone will like it....but I also like the candy bar idea too....decisions?..

I'm doing candy only because it's more resonible and doesn't require someone to man the bar or equipment to keep it cold.  Folks can help themselves all night to the candy buffet.

justmeandhim- That's a very good point. I will still do the candy buffet, that not really our favor. However, the FH and I have thought about something else. I will blog about it later though ;-)

Dessert buffets are very popular - you're right.  I summarized some dessert bar tips and inspirations in my blog at
http://fabgabblog.com/?s=dessert+bar

But if you decide on the ice cream bar just make sure you have all the logistics down.  Do you have someone available to serve?  How will you make sure it doesn't melt?  How will you hide or dress unsightly items such as the whipped cream bottle?  How will the items match your decor and color theme?

If you choose the ice cream bar you could still use your jars and scoops for the toppings.

I'm helping My future sister in law plan her wedding and she's having a candy bar.  I looked online and found a company, Box and Wrap that supplies cute candy bags, candy boxes, and Favor boxes.  They are very nice and reasonably priced.  She's going to order some and let the guests fill their own container from the candy bar.  Wedding Favors Done!!

I would be afraid the ice-cream bar would melt too fast to really enjoy it.  Plus, you can't send  the ice cream home with the guests.

Thank you so much Jenny. We actually decided to just do the Candy Buffet. We didn't do it in our colors though, just our favorite kinds of candy and a few theater box candies. I can't remember if it was box and wrap, but I do order these cute little bags with handles for the guest to put their candy in. I will actually post the pictures next week on my blog. Thank so much for your input.
