Homemade Soy Candles
So I have not posted in a really long time but this summer was crazy busy. So I have been thinking of making homemade soy candles for my favors for a long time and I thought I would do a cost breakdown and such for anyone who would be interested. First off I LOVE candles and I am so excited to do this project. I am making 2oz candles and I am ordering votives off of candles4less.com. I am getting 288 for $72. I need 350 so then I am ordering 72 more off of cudge.net for $25 because I am ordering the votives and candles package(72) for $35 for the tables. So so far it is 97.88 for the candle holders. I am then putting them in boxes, I found chocolate brown ones that would cost me $90 or just small cardboard ones that would be around $50. I am then ordering all the candle supplies off of candlescience and i am getting 50lbs of soy wax for $49 which will make around 500 2oz candles. I am using green dye which will be 8.99 and an macintosh apple scent that will be $75
so over all it will be around $350 but that is for around 350-400 candles so it is 1 dollar a candle! I think that is super cheap and I am so excited because i think it is a great gift!! do you think its a good idea, is it to expensive?..... |

Wedding Flowers
CHEAP Centerpieces...
If you are like me and REALLY want real flowers but do not want the price tag to come with it then I hope I can give you some ideas. I always knew I wanted a really unique flower that fits my personality. We are doing a nature/rustic theme with greens and browns so the flower I decided I need was the spider mum...Now I know this is a rather odd wedding flower however I LOVE how it looks, especially in a bouquet. I found these flowers at Costco for 79.99 for 80 stems...THATS $1 A PIECE!!!! I had looked at carnations before and they were around the same price....So I plan to do like the picture with the beans and pink flowers except with coffee beans and a spider mum....the great thing about this flower is that it is sturdy and they last 2-3 weeks... I am having long tables so I will do a few per table and then lots of candles...I am going to experiment with different heights and so on.....I am also doing all the other flowers and still figure I will only spend around 300 on them...now this is very cheap for real flowers....I am not suggesting this is the cheapest centerpiece I am just saying it is cheap for real flowers....Now you could also do a fake flower in there because nobody could tell because they wouldnt be touching it....My flower girl will also be throwing button mums and the guys bouts. will be botton mums as well. I hope I inspired someone to come up with a great cheap alternative also!

Plantable gift tags
I really love plantable paper especially since we are going for a rustic/nature theme. I found plantable paper that would cost $75 for all the invites so I am really considering it. I found these gift tags though that would be a great cheaper favor for your guests. You can attach it to some cheap candy or other item and I think it is a reallly unique idea. On one side is a poem that says
Plant this heart and as soon as you know, Just like our love the flowers will grow. The bride and grooms name and wedding date would be on the other side. Your guests can then plant these and wildflowers will grow. They are flowers that attract butterflies which I love! I am thinking of doing it for my invitations because I think it is a great added favor, and it helps the earth! Just thought it was a great idea to share, especially those interested in recycled paper and unique favors! |

PoPcoRn BaR!!!
So I have been planning on doing a candy bar but because of expense reasons and just because I loveee my new plan we are switching to popcorn. I think I am going to have about 5 big jars with butter, cheddar(my fave) and then to incorporate my colors do a chocolatey one and some kind of green one, sounds gross so i dont know haha. I LOVE popcorn and it is so much cheaper so I am super excited. I am not sure if i want to do mini popcorn boxes or those clear bags. I like the clear bags because it would be cool to layer the different kinds and see the different colors, but the popcorn boxes would be cute to.
I also want to incorporate the saying "Life is salty, Love is sweet" I am not sure if I should put these on the bags or a sign on the table...any suggestions? |

HELP ME!
So I am doing my own invitations and I am confused on how to find a graphic for it. My flowers are spider mums so I want to incorporate it somehow, this is how I found the perfect invite. They are to expensive for me but how can I find the same graphic that is on it? I looove it and it would be easy to make something similar but I am not even sure where to look. Can someone please help, I would even be willing to pay for it but I am not sure where to look! Thanks!

So I havent posted in forever, the holidays were really busy and we moved across state. Now I am settled in and planning is back in order. I am trying to get things done early so we dont have alot of money to dish out at the end. We choose our reception site...it is the golf course i talked about in the first post that was way out of my range. My parents decided to spring for it and wont reconsider. So i want to do alot of cheap DIY projects to cut costs. I love the ribbon pom poms because they look so cute and i can choose any color ribbon i like. I am also going to do the vases...you can print the template at marthastewart.com and they have 15 colors....this way i can buy cheap vases and make them look really nice. I also llooove the invite idea...you print a really simple and cheap design...then if you have a Xyron machine( i dont but they are $30) you run a fabric of your choice through and it makes it sticky...stick it to the back and it looks amazing....you can also run the colored paper for the envelopes...I also love the candles in the last pic..my colors are brown and green sooo i am putting coffee beans with green candles..I am so excited i keep finding great ideas...just thought i would let everyone know!!!

FREE PHOTOBOOK
SWEET!!
So I just got my free photobook from snapfish and I love it, then today I stumbled upon another. I was on babycenter looking on the right age to get my daughters ears pierced and say an ad for one. It is from picaboo and you can create baby ones, cookbooks or even wedding ones!!! The coupon is for a medium one which is 9.99 so it is not as good deal as snapfish but hey 10 bucks is 10 bucks. You have to download the program which takes awhile but you can customize TONS more than you can on snapfish...I think I will make one for my FH sister who just had a baby...and ill try make another for myself using my moms name or something. Centerpiece
I am just going to post something quick because while I was xmas shopping I found some great deals. One of the things I found are these pumpkin and pear centerpieces that are SUPER cute. I know some of your are doing pumpkins but if anyone is thinking about it these are on sale for $7.98 I think this is a good deal for a centerpiece. Favors, envelopes and more!
FAVORS- I am considering have Jones soda as a favor in our wedding. You can choose your colors and have a picture placed on it. I think it is so cute because you can have many colors and different pictures on each. You can also write something on the back so it would be a neat thing to have.
ENVELOPES-So I think this is a really unique idea for your shower or grooms dinner. You can make the envelopes or the liners with ads from wedding magazines. Im sure we all have TONS of magazines so it is a great way to use them up since we will just be throwing them out anyway. It would be neat thing to get and I think your guest would be suprised. CAKE- I love the cherry blossoms on this cake and you can order them online. Wendy Kromer who does the cakes on martha stewart has a site where you can by these cherry blossoms to decorate your cake or other marzipan fruit and even wedding cookie favors. They even have some shaped as engagement rings they are super cute! I LOVE this look and i think i am going to do it. GUESTBOOK- I have not decided what I am going to do with the guestbook but this is an idea I have not heard of. At guestbookstore.com you can order different styles of sheets that guests can fill you. They fill out where they travled from and how they know the bride or groom. they can fill in a special message to you and even add drawings of the bride and groom. You can then order a book from them to make a guest book or i am sure you can buy a scrapbook that would serve the same purpose. |

So there is one good thing about this dinky town and that is I found an amazing photographer...A girl from my high school recently got married and I was looking at her pictures and love them. I found out who her photographer was and now i decided i NEED her haha. I still havent found a reception place so I dont want to book her in case we end up having it in a different town. But I have a loooong while yet so I am not to worried. I am going to post a few pics up from her wedding so you can see how beautiful they are....The lady as like three packages but I would want the most expensive(ofcourse) and that includes
