DIY Wedding
Ruffle Shoes :)
So I really want some bold purple shoes for my wedding but matching colors is near impossible and I don't want to go the dyeable route. If you dont use www.pinterest.com, you should. Tons of wedding inspirations on there PLUS food recipes, clothing ideas, DIY project for the house, art work, etc. Very cool. Anyways, this DIY project was on there and so my sister is going to help create my lovable-dreamable-bold-wedding shoes.
Just found the perfect pair of strappy white sandals with a little wedge heal for $5 at Walmart...cant wait to get them changed! The ribbon will be a bold purple :) For the DIY tutorial, visit the website! http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-Removable-Ruffles-for-your-Shoes/step6/null/ |

DIY Hair Flower (and a rant...)
So if your in love with a hair accessory like the one in this photo, or looking for easy-to-do projects for a hair accessory you will LOVE this post.
I found a blog with a step by step direction and supply list that helps you create your own hair flower for your wedding. Its so simple and it totally made me go... DUH!....but now I am inspired and can't wait to his Hobby Lobby and check this off my to-do list! Heres the link... http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/diy-hair-flower Also, I got my wedding jewelry and I can't stop feeling giddy about our wedding! It's getting closer, not close enough, and Im praying everything works out so we are able to get married than. We have run into a bit of a financial problem that once we are married will effect us both (stupid concept of credit) that was brought on by his inconsiderate mother in law. The whole problem has put my stress level above and beyond and I don't know what to say or do. Im not one to be mad or hold a grudge but she is such an awful person and her new husband is an a-hole if you know what I mean. He brags on his facebook about how he loves his new kids and grand kids, insists my FH nephew calls him grandpa, but hates us in real life and hates when we visit. In fact, he is the reason why his side of the family isn't chipping in for our big day. We choose to have this wedding, I understand, but it's family and she helped with her other sons so why cant she help with ours too? Ugh... Also since we moved, Ive been miserable. I love my job and start student teaching soon which is good but I miss my friends and family. I dont have anyone to turn to or vent to about anything and I just feel as though Im alone on every feeling. Ugh. Sorry to bring you all down... been really hard to keep it all in. |

Wedding Hair Style
details, details, details :)
So I have changed my mind a bit and I am thinking of doing an elbow length VERY simple and flat veil with a large flower accent. Pulling my hair back like the one in the photo and a flower like that. Than remove the veil for the reception.... and I'm thinking a simple matching set of tear drop earrings and necklace.
Now just to find all these things or DIY them.... Wish me luck! |

Wedding Dress
Da-Da-Da-Daaa! The dress :)
So my sister made it up for the weekend and we decided to go dress shopping while we can (and camping for the weekend which was a TON of fun)! We first hit up a local store that a friend recommended but I had difficulties finding a dress to try in my size and they didn't have anyone helping you try the dresses on and it was really cramped. So we moved on to Davids Bridal. I can't tell you how enjoyable it was! She made sure I was comfortable, gave me privacy but the proper assistance I deserved. She also didn't make me feel bad for my budget. We were able to pick out a few dresses to get started, and you wouldn't believe it but the first dress I tired on ended up being the one! We (my sister, my mom, and myself) all loved it but decided to keep trying some on! The next dress was gorgeous with a drop waste and amazing detail but I didn't care for the back and it ended up being out of my price range. So the lady helping us helped me try on prob 5-6 more dresses which were all pretty and great but they just didn't seem like me or what I was going for. I really wanted something that was old, hollywood glamish, and classic! Most dresses Id picked out online have been simple with a belt embellishment... soooo finally my mom asked if I would try the first one on! It has box pleating in the front and gathered fabric among the top with just a bit of a sweetheart top! She added a belt in the lapis color (dark purple) that had some beading detail and my sister who never cries as well as my mom burst into tears and I knew it was the one and I couldn't waste any more time! It even has pockets. I'm going to ask if they can add some buttons down the back to make it look like more vintage. Yup ... its my dress. I can't wait to try it on again! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it :)
Now to hunt for jewelry and everything :) |

Wedding Invitation
What route did you go?
I'm just wondering who made their own invites and who ordered their invites? Any recommendations?
I'm thinking of buying one of those kits where all you have to do is print them. I have a graphic design degree and thought I could jazz a simple kit up with some fun font and colors. I originally wanted to create my own but I feel it will be MORE stress than needed. I also hear vista print.com has great deals and there is one invite design that has trees on it like we are using in our reception decor and stuff. But I'm not sold on it... and I don't want to spend a ton of money on save the dates and invites since most people throw it away but they also set the "setting" of our day! Just wondering what other brides have done, what are your tips, and do you know any affordable sites to order from or know of a good place that has the kits? |

Wedding Reception
VENUE :)
So we found our venue! I am very excited! It will be in my home town and I don't care what my FH side of the family says. It's a very rustic and homey location with woods in the background.
Ceremony: This will be outside under the gazebo with white chairs. This is costing us NOTHING except for our officiant. Were hoping to string twinkly lights inside, some of those balls made out of purple shades of flowers. Were adding some pots of green ferns and possible two trees by the entrance. Reception: Our reception will be the same location. It is a restaurant and hotel. Again, there is no charge for using their room. We just get charged for food and if we call a week or so before the wedding and tell them were having 100 people instead of the 120 people, we don't get charged for the people who don't show. Also they have the most amazing food here so I'm very excited for that! Were thinking of doing a pasta bar even! The guy even through in the honeymoon suite as a gift FOR FREE :) The deal couldn't get any sweeter! We are very lucky I found it! It has a smaller sized room which has the cash bar and a big fireplace and bathrooms, a walk out porch area for all those smokers or people who may just need to cool off from dancing, a pool room with a few tv's incase dancing isn't your thing, and than the large room where you hold your dance floor, settings to eat, etc. Were thinking of doing a mix of mason jars, birch bark candle holders, on vintage trays with a mix of purple flowers and river rock to pick up our colors. ITS GOING TO BE STUNNING :) Were also hoping to do a home made dessert bar with the help of friends and family. Gives it a personal touch! Doing a big fancy cake just isn't us! I'm in love with the tux's from the inspiration board I created and my FH loves it finally as well. I really have a simple wedding dress so I want some dramatic jewelry and a big flower. |

Wedding Reception
Where are you!
I got to ask...
Are you having your reception and ceremony in your home town? His home town? A new destination? Are you even in the same state you grew up in? |

rustic vintage - purple/champaign
So it's been a while since I was on here... seems finishing up college has made me busy busy... plus I keep finding myself volunteering and helping here and there...anywho! I was able to attend my FIRST bridal show a few weeks ago... my mom and I really enjoyed ourselves. it was so much fun and Im feeling like much more of a bride!
ALSO we may or may not have the location picked.... were thinking of renting the state park lodge and a building at the local summer camp i worked out and go with the vintage rustic theme with the same colors we discussed before but im leaning more towards a purple and champaign brown and gray. the purple HAS to stay :) My bridesmaids are picked and just as excited :) Im going with my sister as MOH, his sister, my bff Sara, and my two friends from high school. My two room mates from college will be my personal attendents. check out my inspiration so far... My sister has been a blessing and understand what I like and what I want. My mom keeps trying to make me go bigger and better (which is not what our budget is up for) and my dad keeps hinting towards a bribe to elope.... we'll see who drives me more nuts in the end haha :) |
