MmMm Cupcakes!
Possible Homemade Wedding Cupcake ideas...

I am thinking of doing either chocolate cupcakes dipped in dark chocolate ganachesquares or possible even now thinking of doing miniature square cakes in ganache...and then using a fine brush to paint on a filigree design using gold edible lustre dust.

Hmmm I am going to have to find a cupcake stand online or make one somehow that can hold approx. 150 cupcakes...if anyone has any ideas on a cupcake stand let me know :)

Have you made the mini cakes before? I  would not recommend committing to making 150 mini cakes for your wedding! I made 150 mini cakes, plus a 2 tier cake for my FBIL & FSILs wedding last June and it was SO much work, and I OWN a cake decorating business...this is what I do! I am making my own cake, but it is going to be a fake cake that I will be making in advance and serving slab cake or cupcakes. I do not want to spend the whole day before my wedding baking and decorating cakes. I would love to hear it turns out!

Yes I have thought about the fact that this is quite a challenge and pressure to put on myself before a wedding!!!! I'm not exactly sure how much work it will be, but that is part of the fun and I am planning on doing trials of what I want a few months before. One of my bridesmaids has made cakes for a few past friends' weddings and is going to help me with it. They probably won't look anything close to perfect, or necessarily all evenly sized.  If I do chose the square cakes I wouldn't and couldn't make 150 cake squares in molds. I'm just gonna make alotta sheet cakes, probably freeze them a few weeks before the wedding, defrost them a few days before, cut them into squares, probably just coat each square twice in dark chocolate ganache, and then after the ganache solidifies, wrap a dark satin ribbon around each one, and then hopefully paint  in gold lustre dust either a handwritten monogram or just a random swirly design.  And if it doesn't work oh well I'll improvise, we are also having dessert trays passed out at the reception so not all is lost and then we'll just have lots of cake leftover for snacking after the wedding!
