Courtship Stories
A Nice Touch

I found this site: www.courtship-stories & they have beautiful booklets created for special occasions, one of which being (you guessed it) weddings...

Now get this, the booklets start somewhere around $600, but after you pick up your jaw, just think...if you like the ideas on the site, you could probably (DIY)...like me! I fell in love with this one couple's story...Aileen & Ryan, & it had me thinking about me & my FH's history. On the site, they had the booklets beautifully assembled in baskets (similar to wedding programs), & what I liked was how they had some displayed on the tables @ the reception. It was a nice keepsake touch for the guests to gaga over. Plus, it's always good to keep your guests entertained & drawn into the whole reason of why they're there.

The prices go into labor, interviewing (the couple) & supplies. But like I said, you could definitely do this one with a little time & creativity. Well, alot of time. Once I work on this, I will post it for you guys to see. I want to include this at the reception. Check out the site & view the couple's stories if you get a chance. :)

**Out of respect to the seller, please do check her site out (if this is a feature you would consider incorporating). Her work is amazing, & I can admit in advance that the quality of my work would be nowhere NEAR hers, LOL...her ideas are beautiful, & from the reviews, absolutely worth every penny. Happy planning!

LOL...that lady is charging some madddd money for these booklets!  Ha.  But, then again, you know anytime something is 'wedding affiliated', you add the cha-ching on.  I agree, this is a heart warming touch, & I totally love the concept.  It's a nice alternative to the common slide show, or maybe a nice touch to have in addition to.  Plus guests can go back & look at it later.  Let me know how ez this is...I guess you can make it as detailed as you want to, & then just take it to Kinkos or some place & have at it.  This is a fun DIY to do with the FI. :)

Hi DIYers,

If any of you want some tips on writing your own story, you can contact me by email or through my website, which I don't see listed on the post. it's  www.courtship-stories.com.  I'll be happy to give you several tips I have pre-prepared.

I can also give you suggestions on how to get the 16 pages of color printing done and what software publishing programs you might use  to put it all together.

The ones we do are ambitious projects. The stories are filled with lots of details and plot. Interviews of the bride and groom separately can be a total of 3 to 4 hours on the phone depending on the length of the relationship. Writing can take 10 hours. If you know how long it takes you to research and write a comprehensive college paper, perhaps you can relate.  We're  like photographers in that we capture memories and create a one of a kind work of art for you and then we print booklets  for everyone with 4 or 5 of your engagement portraits to enjoy at the wedding. We do our interview session then come back with an 1800-word story, similar to the end result of a photography session,  and then we put it into an album, which is the 16 page card stock booklet.  The time we spend working with your photographer is considerable. I think we all understand why photographers charge what they do, but writers and designers, even printers, are less understood. But like photographers, we are artists.  Then there is the 16 pages of color printing for our longest booklet.  We do 4, 8 and 12 pages.

I encourage you to take the ideas, but not judge the originator of the idea as someone who is trying to take advantage of brides.  I encourage anyone who wants to do it themselves because it's really important to me that your stories get written, shared with guests and preserved for future generations.

LOL GB, we best fork out the cash girl!  BTW, maybe the seller didn't read the beginning of your post, but it looks like you gave her props on the product, as well as mention the site for us to go to.  Funny.

Just an FYI, I don't know when Kinko's got integrally wrapped up with DIY, but it's the most expensive place you can take any printing project or xeroxing project in my opinion. Try the mom and pop shops :-)

Alright, thanks Ellen for re-visiting my blog.  I (and any other DIY brides) will certainly consider your pricing concerns.  Thanks so much for the advice!

Have you gathered any of your thoughts for starting this project?  I absolutely love it, but definately could not afford the extra money it would take to have ellen & her team do it.   I think it's an adorable idea.  BTW, I'm getting a load of awesome Vista prints stuff :) I ordered bubble labels, placecards, Yay fun!

First, get your story down on paper. This is one style I recommend. Tell it in alternating passages as it happened. Tell it in the first person like a dialogue
