A New Start
A Bittersweet Ending
My grandfather..."Papa" came down with pneumonia a few weeks ago. He was hooked up to all kinds of feeding & breathing tubes & things looked pretty bad, especially after surgery. Four days ago, he
took a turn for the better & was taken off the ventilator. Well, on Saturday, he had to go back on. This morning, on my way to church, my sis called & let me know that he was fading away. My mom & I met my dad (he was traveling for work) & we also met up with my sis & her husband. We hit the road to Columbia, SC to the hospital. My Grandma decided to take him off the tubes because he seemed to be in so much pain, & was incoherent. He passed away 2 hours later. He lived a wonderfully blessed life of 81 years. An hour after sobbing we got word that my great grandmother has different complications & has about a week expected to live. She is in her late 90's. I guess no matter how long someone is here on earth, or how well you think 'you're' prepared to handle this thing called life, it just hits you like a train when it comes time to pass on. Lleweyn won't be able to go with me to the funeral because he's having surgery 2 days b4 & has to be in bed for a week. The funeral will be on my birthday, which could be so depressing if I allowed it to be, but in a way it really is another birthday, because I know God has given new life to my Papa. Here's a poem I read earlier that touched me: God saw you getting tired and a cure was not meant to be, So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you, as we saw you pass away. Although we loved you deeply, we could not make you stay. Your Golden Heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. I love you Papa! We'll have your seat reserved with care at the wedding. Dress To Impress, as you always do:) tags:
