Ask a Question
What Was Their First Impression?
Just curious..what was your parents/family's first impression of your Fiance? My mom met my fiance before my dad did at a cookout I had. This was before we were dating. She didn't like or dislike him...he was just there, lol. Of course, she wasn't looking at him as my boyfriend, because I actually had a guy there that I was dating.... When my parents "officially" met him during the dating phase, my dad pretty much adored him because they are both sports &history trivia buffs. And, my dad liked the fact that FH is hardworking & honest. My mom on the other hand felt like I could do better, lol. She liked him, but had a few reservations. Now she loves him as her own son, but I know is still praying, lol. What was your experience? |

Beautiful Favor Boxes
For detailed instructions & template, go here:
http://www.stylemepretty.com/2009/06/01/our-brand-new-site/ Style Me Pretty has some gorgeous new additions to their DIY department. I came across these lovely little favor boxes & almost regretted buying my little aqua blue favor boxes! Almost.. These boxes only require your printer, cardstock & scissors! You just cut out the free template, & there you have a beautiful favor box. You could add your own touch of a single rhinestone, or whatever you want. I really would love to incorporate these, & have thought about adding them to the welcome boxes with a few chocolate pieces inside.... |

Bridal Shower
A Beautiful Day
I am going to do my best to condense this because I could go on & on!
My Bridal Shower was this past Saturday at The Embassy Suites. It was a two-part Shower. The first half was lunch, gifts, mingling, games, etc in the banquet room. There was food served from Sandwiches to Shrimp Pitas, and for dessert...white cupcakes. It was very classic. I received the most beautiful gifts (it was an around-the-clock theme, meaning that guests could bring a gift for anytime of the day...lingerie, coffee pot for the morning, sheets, whatever). My fiance & I received so much off of our registry, I was so touched! We mostly received gift cards to our respective registries (Target & Pottery Barn). We also received a couple's massage gift certificate. YES! My FH & I have lived on our own for years & have lots of our own things, but when we combine our sharings, we intend to start new & redo alot of what we have accumulated. We will sell & give away alot of our furniture, older dishes, etc., & use the new stuff obtained together! :) Part two of the Shower was still on site at The Embassy Suites, in their "Spa Botanica". OMGosh ladies. I was in pure paradise. I was gifted a manicure & swedish massage (my first pro massage). I did not want to leave. We were all pampered so well. The atmosphere was so peaceful & sweet. Now, I can say that there were a few hiccups. Like, about 15 of my friends saying they'd be there for sure, & then randomly up til the day of the event, people just didnt show up. One "friend" even neglected to come because she didn't agree with me celebrating after our wedding was postponed. Huh? So, after getting over the fact that I was of course being judged, I dusted myself off & went back into celebration mode! You can't please em all, but you can appreciate the good, the bad & the ugly. Mr. Gratefulbride & I are still getting married, so the elements of wedding details are still being carried out...including the Shower, lol! Also, my MOH forgot her camera at home, but her sis-in-law took pics & is going to put them on a CD. The pics you see today are from my Blackberry. The people who were there (if was about 35 ppl) were so awesome! We laughed together, cried together, & shared memories. Two of my girlfriends that I recently caught up with on Facebook after 16 years even came! It was the best day I've had in a VERY long time. I was extremely anxious the night before, because I'm not used to being the center of attention. I was worried about my outfit too, but I found the perfect dress at Old Navy for less than $30. My shoes on the other hand were $80 from DSW, but they were more of an investment, lol. My "bling" was from Maylui on Etsy (pictured). The blue favors all neatly wrapped were Yankee Candles! Mmmm. Ladies, if you haven't had your Shower yet, please enjoy every minute of it. They are so much fun, & we are so fortunate to have people love us enough to support this joyous occasion. I wanted so badly to get involved with the planning, decor & follow up, but if you have someone doing that for you (as I did), please respect their position & let them. It's so hard, but remember that people WANT to take a load off of you. We get to plan the whole wedding, so enjoy someone doing the Shower for you. Even if everything isn't exactly how you want it, just enjoy yourself. I am a little detailed obsessive at times, so I HAD to put my 10cents in with the colors, cardbox & guest platter, but I stepped off after that, lol. I promise to post more "real" pics when they are available! P.S. The cost was not high for the planners of my shower, as the banquet room was free for this occasion (I wish we had the same option for the reception, lol). Each guest purchased their own food, & spa services were optional for those who wanted them at a discounted rate for some, due to the size of the party. MOH paid for cupcakes & favors, so it wasn't a Shower to break the bank. |

Signage
Reserved Seating
I'm starting to work on ceremony & reception signage now. This is a pic of my first attempt at a reserved seating sign for the ceremony. I actually wanted something a little less traditional, so I printed it in a panoramic type layout & layered it on some scroll scrapbook paper that I had left from a previous project. I don't want to have damask or chandelier overkill at the ceremony, so I went with a simpler background.
The bow is pretty bootleg. I will have to work on that in my next attempt. I am making these for the parents & grands. |

Bling for Less
Similar to Z-Gallerie
I had a "spring cleaning" in my stash of wedding items & had to reorganize alot of things being used, and not being used. I forgot that I had started purchasing a few items here & there around Christmas time for our head table. Those include: crystalesque napkin rings & frames. The frames pictured will be for my FH & myself as a place setting. I have smaller rhinestone frames in round & square for the remaining wedding party.
The great thing about all of it is that it was all 50% off at Hobby Lobby (they run regular sales on frames). The napkin rings at Z-Gallerie are 4 for $23.80. At Hobby Lobby, I bought them for $1.50 each (regular price $2.99). The frames are 4x4 size for $5.99 (regular price $11.99). I will post more pics of the wedding party frames, as well as ours once I get the signage completed to put inside. |

It's Her Time
Congratulations Rhonda!
First of all, if any bride(s) have already posted something for LaRhonda, then I apologize for being redundant. I sifted thru previous posts & only saw one, but it was from the Bride.
I just wanted to resurface our love & support from all of us here at WBC. I really could go on & on about her, but in a nutshell, she is THE BOMB & I wish LaRhonda & Rodrick many more years of marital bliss. How fortunate we all are to have found love! |

More Cupcake Wraps
For Damask Lovers :)
I LOVE these! It's probably also an easy, but tedious DIY project with the right scrapbook paper & scallop scissors. I found these on www.accenttheparty.com. Fifty for $48. How awesome for a Shower or Garden Party!

What Are You Using Your Monograms For?
Ladies, I have a total of 6 monograms that I LOVE. I see more monograms daily that I want so bad, but I have to contain myself, lol. I don't even know what to use the ones I have for!
Actually, I have found use for a few, but am running out of ideas for others. Areas where I have already used our monograms are: Aisle Runner, OOT Boxes, Water Bottle Labels, Couple's Website Areas where we will probably use them for, but are not yet complete: Programs, Seating Chart (if we do one), Sparkling Juice bottles (for toast). Where are you using your monograms? I need more ideas because I want to make sure they get proper usage, but at the same time, I don't want too much personalization. We have a simple chandelier & damask for the invites (pictured in previous post), napkins, & matchbooks, so we won't do monograms there. Please share where yours will be. I will most likely only use 3 in the wedding, & then use the other 3 for address labels & things for after we are married. That way we'll always get usage out of them.... P.S. I had our previous date from June removed from the monograms so that I can get more usage out of them. I can finish most of my printing projects without regret, & also use them in the future without the date being a hinderance. |

The Making of A Chic Guest Table- Damask & Tiffany Centerpieces
Let me start off by forewarning you guys that I am NOT crafty with flowers, as I have never really worked with them, other than receiving them from Mr.Gratefulbride, & putting them in a vase on my table. ;)
But, I have been toying around with images in my mind & need to start at least narrowing down what my centerpieces, & overall guest tables will look like. Pictured, is only one element of the guest table (in a few variations). One option is to perfect a tiffany blue satin bow, or just put a classy satin band around the vase. The base of this centerpiece is a cylinder vase from The Dollar Store, wrapped with a large flocked sheet of damask scrapbook paper. I topped it of with a peony bouquet (just stems of peonys, banded at the base...I didn't make pomanders), & crystal strands. In one of the close up pics, you'll see feathers, which I think I will definitely add at around the flowers, I just have to get more. In my next pics, I will share a table squares or some type of base underneath the centerpiece, the votives with the aqua rhinestone wraps, & lots of rose petals, and crystal confetti. I might add led lights to these. Please tell me what you would add or change. This is definitely stll a work in progress! Oh, & the head table will have centerpieces like the inspiration I posted earlier in my blog with the pink tissue paper pomanders, & hanging crystal piece. I will change mine up a little, but I will probably use the clear vases for this, since we will have damask underlays on the head table. |
