Soooo close!
darn finals between now and then....
Wow, we are only 11 days out!! How did that happen so fast?? I know I haven't been keeping up with this thing, but no one reads it anyway...just like they don't send in their RSVP cards and cant commit to an event they have known about for nearly 2 years until 10 days beforehand....
One more final and a final project between me and freedom and all wedding all the time! |

Wedding Invitation
Umm less than 300 days?!?!? Hells Yeah!!
So the Save The Dates went out, and I have only gotten a definite NO from one family...
Yikes! Our target attendance is 150 people, but at this point we have sent the STD cards to almost 250 people. I know, I know...but it's during the holidays, and I know some people aren't going to be able to make it. And it is a "destination" wedding so I know some people probably will decline due to the cost of attending...damn economic slump. And I am pretty much hedging my bets on the fact that 90% of my friends that I invited from vet school probably won't be showing up b/c of $$ and timing. Whatever, I ordered the printed panels of our invitations from VistaPrint today, they should arrive in about 3 weeks. Check out the pics of everything we have gotten from VP...highly recommended!!! The bridesmaid's dresses are beautiful... HOORAY Alfred Angelo! Boooo David's Bridal! (long story...don't ask) I am now on my third pair of wedding shoes and I AM NOT changing them again, the first pair were too casual, the second ones were the wrong color and way too clunky, but these are PERFECT and they were only $25 at Target!!! They are actually slightly brighter red than in this picture... Our engagement photo session was awesome, should be getting the proofs any day now. :) Got our custom made glass etched toasting flutes, snowflake unity candles, and bridal party thank you cards from etsy! Made my winter magnolia crystal and pearl fascinator...it looks amazing! Waiting on the ring bearers bowl. Also, I have been toying around with ideas for our centerpieces...here is what we have so far. White tablecloths with platinum silver sashes crossed at 90 degree angles like runners and an iridescent cranberry napkin at the center of the cross, deep cranberry red roses, antique silver pitchers, glass hurricanes covered in shimmery rock salt to look like ice (the one in the pic isn't done yet) with floating candles, votive holders, sparkly snowflakes, acrylic ice crystals, sparkly Christmas ornaments, and lots and lots of fake snow. Signing off for now! :D |

I like the alternating snowflakes and snow dots on this cake. I like shape of the tiers and the cascade of snowflakes coming down and around this cake, but without the entwined Christmas lights. The groom's cake is going to look like this but with a square bottom tier and a round top tier, no strawberries and our monogram on top. Pretty cranberry snowflakes. St. John's Catholic Church The initial idea for our cocoa favors...ours will be way prettier. :) |
Update
Fast approaching the 10 month mark!!
So my best friend Olivia got engaged to her LONG time BF and high school sweetheart at the infamous UT vs. aTm game last year...very cute. She is one of my Bridesmaids, and he is our Usher and there might be a possibility that they are getting married around the same time as Chris and I, oh yeah, and I am one of her bridesmaids too! If that happens it is going to be a crazy Christmas break for me, lol. We shall just have to play it by ear and see how things turn out.
So 365 days to go came and went, 11 months to go flew by barely unnoticed, then we were celebrating our 2 years of engagement anniversary, lol. Now it is almost our 4 year dating anniversary and school and life are seriously hindering my wedding planning abilities...Ok, what's done? Ceremony x 2 and Reception: Locations and Times Booked Catholic Wedding Prep starts in a week and a half Bridesmaids Dresses Arrived BMs/GMs/FG/RB gifts almost done, just need to finish embroidery! Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Mini Crisis...averted!
A little plug for "our" jeweler!
So, when Chris was in town last weekend we went to our jeweler's to look at his ring becuase it had arrived in the shop. :D Long story short, I realized that somehow we had accidentally put the same engraving on both of our wedding bands. His was supposed to say "Always & Forever" and mine was supposed to say "No Matter What"...but they both said "No Matter What." Oh no!! So after a panicked call back to the jewler's, Donna (the rep we have been working with for all of our wedding jewelry) just calmly said "Don't worry about a thing, I will fix it." and took care of everything (for no extra charge). They are such a fantastic buisness. We have been so spoiled by going to a locally-owned fantastic jewler's personal shop as opposed to one of those run of the mill kiosks in the mall or the big-box shops like Jared. They are so knowledgeable and wonderful to work with. Honestly, deciding to do buisness with David Gardner's Jewlers in College Station is probably one of the best decisions that we have ever made. They are absolutely amazing!! http://davidgardnersjewelers.com/ |

Wedding Reception
Songs!!
First I want to start with my whole feeling about weddings in general, and the way I am treating mine" I believe fully that the wedding is ABOUT us, but it is not FOR us, the bride and groom. It is FOR our family. I really believe that this is a fantastic outlook because it keeps me from being selfish and controlling in a lot of ways. Ok...now onto the best wedding idea I have ever had....
Keeping in mind that it is for the family, and that the entire day is about love, I have decided to get every single married (or seriously dating) couple who is attending our wedding to tell me "their song" and I am going to play them all! I don't care if it takes all night, and nothing else gets played. That way everyone there will have this feeling of "aawww this one is for us!" and everyone will feel that happy, loving feeling at some point in the night. ADDED BONUS: we will get such an eclectic and multi-generational list of songs, it will be really fun! |
