guvnes's Blue wedding

We are having our ceremony and reception here. Instead of the traditional row of chairs we are inviting our guests to take their seats at the tables and we are going to create an aisle right down the middle and get married in front of the fireplace. There are going to lights, lights, lights and candles everywhere.

It is going to be a military wedding with my husband in his Calgary
Police Ceremonial Uniform. His daughters are both in the Navy and will be in Navy dress uniforms. The paster is also a police member and he, too, will be in uniform. We will have six swordsmen for the arch of swords. We will be escorted by a piper and drummer from the Calgary Police Pipe Band. Like I said, this is his Cinderella wedding.

A little bit of history: This barn was built in the early 1920's and was refurbished in the late 70's as a community centre. The barn is the last standing barn within the city limits of Calgary that is still usable. Its cedar walls encompass the most beautiful fireplace, which roars its warmth in the winter, and lends to a quiet comfort in the summer. The huge sliding glass doors opposite the fireplace open onto the outdoor patio and the green space.

Ironically, our colours are cream and blue - and the photos show white and blue.
