Our Wedding Bands/DJ
Last week we got our rings back from the engraver. We didn't choose anything fancy - just the wedding date and mine says "Love Nick" his says "Love Jennelle." I wanted the plain gold band to match my engagement ring. He wanted a titanium band with a gold ribbon because he says, "it symbolizes the two of us. I'm indestructible like titanium and you're expensive like gold."

We also met with the DJ on Saturday to go over the play list and the DNP list. Here's the sheet we gave him (in case anyone else needs help with their list):

Wedding Dress
It's Home!
I tried on and brought my dress home yesterday! I also made an appointment for alterations in April.

While I was there I checked on the status of my bridesmaids dresses - they should be in the store in the beginning of April - just in time for them to pick them up at the Bridal Shower (it's April 17th).

I also checked on the orders for the dresses for the two other weddings I'm in this summer. One is May 16th - it's a 'Stardust' themed wedding (sort of) because that's what they were watching the night my friend's fiance proposed - hence the fiery color dress. The other is August 8th - I don't think there is a theme, per say, but the bride loves pink and they both want to be classy yet different.

I'm excited - it should be a very fun (busy) summer!

Music
Hey Mr. DJ
Nick and I went to check out a DJ yesterday. Of course we're going to look at more places to compare prices - but I really liked this first guy. He quoted us $995.00 for:

4 hours of continuous music and entertainment
One person staff
Professional DJ/MC
Dressed in Tuxedo
Enclosed DJ Booth
Basic Light Show

and he included free dance lessons. He said that he could also toss in a photo montage for an extra $250.

I personally can't wait until we actually settle on a DJ - I'm excited to start choosing songs.

The DJ said that everyone in our bridal party can have their own entrance music.

As far as our parents and grandma's are concerned - I have no idea what songs I want for them - I might let them choose it so long as I get veto power.

I want the ring bearer to enter the room to the Darth Vader theme song (he's a huge fan - and I get a chuckle imagining the little peanut walking in with that menacing music)

I'm not sure what I want my first group to walk into (two bridesmaids and one groomsman). They're the loud, obnoxious, fun and crazy bunch. I want something to fit their personalities. Possibly something to warn my guests... Maybe 'Born to be Wild'

The second group will be another two bridesmaids and one groomsman. I'd like them to walk into Aerosmith - possibly 'Walk This Way' - this is Astroskirt's group and I know she said she wants to walk up the aisle to 'Walk This Way' for her wedding - if her FH says 'No' to that then at least she'll have one entrance with that song. If she doesn't want it at my wedding, then I'll let her and the other bridesmaid choose a different Aerosmith song. As for the groomsman - if I let him choose - he'd pick Type O Negative or Iron Maiden - not what I want to hear at my wedding.

The next group will be my brother and my remaining bridesmaid. My problem here is that although my brother would LOVE to walk in to the song, "I'm Too Sexy" - I think my friend would be BRIGHT red. She'd prefer to walk in to the Xena theme song...

The last group will be my MOH and his BM - our siblings. I'm thinking possibly 'Get the Party Started' - but I'll probably let them pick their entrance music.

I really want Nick and I to enter to Tomoaysu Hotei's 'Battle Without Honor Or Humanity' (it's from Kill Bill when O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu ) the Crazy 88 Yakuza are walking through the restaurant.

Wedding Favor
Kiss, Kiss
Since my FH proposed to me using a Hershey Kiss - I've decided that I want my favors to be a mesh bag filled with Hershey Kisses. I figure I'll use ivory bags (the color of my dress) and a blue ribbon (either navy or pale blue) and get our names and the date written on the ribbon.

Sweet and Simple!

Wedding Flowers
How much is too much?
I met with a florist on Friday. He had wonderful ideas. For the centerpieces he suggested tall calla lilies in clear glass. Around the rim of the glass he suggested blue hydrangeas with white roses in between the hydrangeas. They were in the process of making it for someone's red wedding and I just fell in love.

He also showed us a bridal and MOH bouquet that he was making for another bride. The bride had white calla lilies, deep blue delphinium and white stefanotis. In the center of each stefanotis they stuck a pearl - he said for mine he could put a rhinestone to match my dress. I think the bride also had blue hydrangeas - but I don't remember - it looked SO pretty!

The bridesmaids had light blue hydrangeas, stunning purple-blue orchids and the MOH had a calla lily in there too. I don't remember if the bridesmaids had delphinium's as well - but I do remember that they looked like they matched the brides bouquet.

He broke down the price (of course I don't remember the break down) - but - for:
13 centerpieces
1 Bride
1 MOH
5 Bridesmaids
1 Groom
1 Bestman
3 Groomsmen
4 Parents
2 Grandma's
1 Ringbearer
Two floor pieces for the church
A Centerpiece for the Card Table
and for him to be there to make sure that the flowers look perfect the day of :

He quoted $2,800.00.

Astroskirt went with me and judging by the centerpieces and flowers I liked (apparently I have champagne taste and a beer wallet) she was expecting the price to be $4-5,000.00. So I thought it was reasonable. Of course my FH said that we should just stick a rose on every table and call it a centerpiece.

Is $2,800.00 too much for flowers?

Ordered!
I ordered my wedding dress today. Although I originally wanted an Alfred Angelo Dress, when I tried it on it didn't look right. But, this one looked perfect!

For any brides looking to create a wedding website, I highly recommend www.wedsimple.com.

This website allows you to do so much:
upload guest list
manage gifts, invites, thank yous
figure out table arrangements

The website also allows you to create your own wedding website - no html knowledge necessary.

The first picture I uploaded shows the home page with all of the different options.

The second picture shows the webpage options.

Thanks to Astroskirt for letting me know about it!

Wedding Reception
location, location, location!
We putting the down payment on the reception hall today! I'm excited. I've wanted to celebrate our marriage here (http://www.thatchedcottage.com/index.html) since I first walked into it. I just knew this was our place. It helps that the last wedding we were at was also at the Thatched Cottage and Nick said that he would want to get married there too. It feels like kismet.

The girls and I are going dress shopping on Election Day (after we vote!) Here's hoping that the dress I like will look good on me :-p

As far as the music goes - my parents keep recommending this band, but I'd prefer getting a DJ. Nick and I have been talking about what song we want to dance to and we've tentatively decided on 'Beauty and the Beast'. Really though - it fits. He's a stubborn recluse who has a tendency to growl and shout; I daydream too much and always have my nose in a book (and have a real talent for annoying him).

The Proposal
Best Birthday Present!
I arrived at Nick’s house (from work) at around 12:15 this afternoon. Nick said, “Happy Birthday” and asked how work was. I told him that I was hungry and he asked if I wanted a kiss. I said, “sure” and gave him a kiss. He asked me again if I wanted a kiss and I said sure and kissed him again. He asked me a third time; I kissed him a third time. When he asked me a fourth time I figured I was pushing my luck and said, “only if you want to give me a kiss.” So he handed me a big Hershey’s kiss in a box. I jumped up and down and said I’d wolf it down in 10 seconds.

I then sat on his bed and started opening the box. He said he had to tie his shoe and got down on one knee to do so. I opened up the kiss and there was the ring. I sat there, shocked, and he asked, “Jennelle, will you marry me?” I started tearing up and went to put the ring on my finger at which point he said, “You have to say yes first!” So, I said yes and put the ring on and gave him a kiss and a hug.

Then we both started sending out mass text messages so that everyone would find out at the same time!

My brother already asked when we would have our first kid. My mom already told us that we had to set a date. My dad said that we had time and to just enjoy being engaged.
