Ask a Question
Are you hiring musicians to play during your ceremony?
I wanted to hire a string quartet to play for our ceremony because I have this wacky fear of church organs. More specifically I wanted Pachelbel's Cannon for the processional, played by a string quartet. I heard that hiring music students can be a cost effective way of doing that, so I contacted the music dept. at a local university, and the department secretary forwarded my message to students. This B. Music grad called (classical guitarist) and long story short, to hire the guitarist's trio with violin and cello costs about $450 for the ceremony. Sooooo...back to the drawing board!

Are you brides-to-be hiring musicians? If so, what instruments and type of music, and how much will it cost you? I realllly want the trio or quartet, and so I think I'll have to wait and see how we do with our budget before I make any final decision.

We are hiring people for the piano, harp, and maybe the violin. We are also having a soloist to sing ave maria. We hire through our chuch and I am not sure what the cost will be yet. Since it is through the church I'm sure it  will cost less than hiring outright.

In our ceremony we're having our organist (maybe doing stuff on piano too) and possibly a vocal soloist as well as hopefully a flute choir!  I am a music major and play flute so I'm hoping my friends I play with will be able to maybe do the music before the ceremony.  Unfortunately even college aged musicians do cost a bit of money but if you look around a bit more you might be able to find students to do it for cheaper.  At our church our organist alone charges $200 and then an extra 50 for every soloist she works with.

We are having a string quartet play at the wedding during the ceremony and I will actually be walking down the isle to Pachebel.  They will also play to entertain the guests during the cocktail hour before dinner.  They cost $800 for 2 full hours of play.  I can't wait!
