Hannikay's shabby-chic Favours!

I'm so excited about these! I found a paper bag template online and bought a couple of old books to destroy lol. I was prewarned to not tell the bookstore man what my use for them was. :)

I purposly off-centred the chandelier stamp in the centre for a bit of added charm. ;)

Now I was originally going to use strips of torn calico as the ribbon, but now i don't know.. I think I like the thin silver and pink ribbon. But I'm just so happy to have these DONE. We will be putting personalized rock candy inside. :D

i don't know about you, but i just love them all different like that! they all go together, they match. if it were my i'd keep them with all different ribbon.

I love these...they are super cute and the candies going in them are ADORABLE!!!  It was a good thing you did not telling the book store man what you were doing...kind hearted you are!  I personally the love the ribbon in the top left corner.  I think it is a soft pink, but I love the way it holds the shape...really cute!

Shayla.. Thanks girl! The top left is the one I was planning on doing. It's got the grey/pink in it that goes perfect with the rest of the wedding.

I found that the notches weren't needed at the top (unless you were making a box, and not an open-topped bag) so just draw straight across the top when you are tracing the pattern.

Also, I scored the creases with a ruler and the end of my sissors lol, to give it a crisp finish. Then pinch the sides in, so that it tapers to a flat top.

I love the top left ribbon, to me it stands out the most. However, what ladydamm said makes sense and if they are all displayed together, it would look great with all different ones.

Love, love, love them! And the first ribbon with the pink and gray is my favorite.
This may sound silly but in the template which side is the top? They both look the same, and its hard to tell in the picture provided. One side is just more square in the middle parts, and the other traingles in, but they both look square in the picture.. if that makes sense! haha. Also, what size books did you buy? :)

Tholmen08 - haha, not a silly question! I made the top of the bags just where it is on the template picture, with the extra tab sticking out the right hand side (that gets glued inside the main body).

So when I cut the template out, I didn't cut the notches on the top line. Just experiement. Once you try it you'll find out what works best. I didn't use the tutorial on that link, just printed the template.

Also, because I didn't draw notches on the top, I put a little 'dot' on where they WOULD have been, so I could score a straight line with my sissor-tip :)

Oh, and I bought A4 sized books. I tell you what, you'd NEVER think it soooo hard to find a book that you can do this with!

I had to look for:

1. A4 size
2. Not many photos
3. Non-glossy pages
4. Browny old looking colour pages
5. G-rated text!

I had to proof read every page (skimmed anyway) to make sure there was nothing about strip clubs! ROFL!! It was a book about SanFrancisco!

Me and the book shop man spent sooo long looking for something that suited. I said I wanted it for 'a display' and it had to be old, with not many pictures. Each time he brought one, I was so fussy. hehehehe....!
