DIY Wedding
::cookies & punch!::

No one can resist a cookie (or biscuit, as I should say in this country), especially not in a dolled up jar!

After the ceremony, while the guests are lolling around, waiting for the ceremony and cooing over us, I'm wanting lots of cookies on a table under the trees. Along with ample amount of strawberry punch for the summer's day!

After seeing this inspiration pic, I started searching for wonderous jars, but they are hard to come by. My amazing pal Adele picked up the big centre jar (which I heart). Then mum came home with these hideous red-lidded beasts.

I wasn't smiling, but seeing as they were only $1.50 each, I thought a bit longer, and decided to cover the lids and see what my scrap basket of floral paper and ribbon could do. And suddenly..

BUT! What cookies??!

Kiss biscuits are a must with plenty of icing..., and so are chunky chocolate chip cookies. And macaroons!! But what else?

Holy Hannah! I can't wait to start dolling up my jars too! I have 2 large glass vintagey jars that are in desperate need of lace and pink. You did a FABULOUS job! As for other cookie options...sugar cookies are fun and always a favourite. Then you can ice them in pretty pinks and ivory and add little details to them? I know they may be a bit more work, but you could do a smaller jar of them? These pics have inspired me...I plan on making the button cookies for the dessert station at our Wedding :) Good work!!!

Awww! Those are all so awesome! I agree with everything acowleysoontobe said.. sugar cookies are always a favorite and you can decorate them in lots of different ways. I also realllly love those button cookies!

I love the cookie and punch idea. We are having strawberry punch too! LOL at "hideous red-lidded beasts." You did a great job of decorating them. Your reception will be lovely. Acowleysoontobe had great ideas and there are tons more non-melting options. You might call a bakery for suggestions (even if you plan to make your own) or do a cookie google.

Thankeeee Amanda! Especially for posting those piccies.. oh my goodness, I cannot believe how sweet those heart shaped cookies are?! Swoon. Well, that picture alone was good news actually, because I'd forgotten I owned heart-shaped cookie cutters. MUST use them! And those button ones are too adorable. Can't wait to see your jars, bet they're beauties.

Hanny what can I say?? they are phenomenal you have rocked those jars, when I first saw the pics I never thought they were the same until I read, they are lovely, and these optiones that Amanda posted look great!, what about marshmallows? would they melt? xxx

Thanks May! And marshmellows are a very good idea (and so fun to make!) BUT, we are actually having marshmellows as part of our centrepieces so if we weren't doing that, I'd love to put them in my jars! xx Thanks girlie xx

These jars look amazing!! You did such a great job. They will fit right into your wedding. I love the idea of some cookies for right after the ceremony. I've been thinking that we might need something for after the ceremony but before the meal.
I love your cookie ideas and the cookies Amanda posted are super cute as well. I know you will figure out everything and it will be to die for. Your guests will love this.

Aw thanks Brittany.. yeah I thought we'd just have some 'light' refreshments after the ceremony. One of the ladies from the church is setting up some tea & coffee, and I'm just having the 5 jars of yummies. So it's not too much hastle! x
