So FH & I have been searching for DJ's. Something that's been stressful for me with us planning our wedding so far away. We've searched WeddingWire looking for the top rated DJ's in our wedding area. We've found a DJ that I really like since he has several YouTube videos posted of his work & receptions he's done. But I just don't know if his prices are reasonable/industry average. Would some of you other lovely ladies on here help me out with your thoughts & knowledge...please and thank you :)
His pricing:
Audio + Lighting + Video Projection= $1250
This includes unlimited spin time, four truss towers that are wrapped in silk, spotlights for the grand entrance, first dance, cake cutting, etc, and them projecting our slideshow on either the venue wall, a 36 sq ft front projection screen, a 100 sq ft rear projection screen, or their 52" flat panel LCD TV.
Custom Gobo Monogram = $250
They will design the monogram for us, project it on the dance floor or a wall using a high lumen video projector, and let us keep the metal disc at the end of the night.
Up-lighting= $500
20 LED fixtures in my choice of colors. I can have multiple colors throughout the room, but I just cannot have each fixture change color throughout the night.
So grand total would be $2000, which seems high to me considering we can book another DJ in the area for 7 hours with a Gobo monogram & video projection but no up-lighting for $870. Now, I will say the less expensive DJ has 5 reviews on WeddingWire compared to this DJ's 50 reviews, he also has no video examples to show us, & his website is a little outdated/cheesy. I know entertainment is important & know I have read a lot that after the day is done, brides wish they would have spent more on their DJ...but I also want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off either just because I've never hired a DJ before in my life & have no idea/clue what industry average is for their services.
Thanks for any & all help Ladies!!
you can buy your own uplighting and gels (gel packs are 12$ and just one uplight can cost 30 bux).
there's spending money that'll be worth it and then there's over charging!
i would talk with the expensive dj and see if he can do better (a.k.a. give you a better deal). or keep looking for a better price. i would be careful about the cheesy outdated dj though. check out my blog on here and i have some great questions to ask the dj!
cheers!
I remember gratefulbride posting "what is it that you are splurging on for your wedding" a while ago. Is this something that you can splurge on? If so, you only get married once, hopefully, right! Go for it! I love all the options they are offering you and would definitely make a huge difference at your wedding. Plus, seems like this DJ is more popluar and high demand to have received over 50 reviews versus the others. Totally up to you dear! Good luck and keep us posted on your decision!
