Engagement Party?
Is anyone else having an engagement party? I read that most engagement parties are normally between two and four months after you announce your engagement...well who's really following the rules...not me. So my FH and I are having an engagement party the end of this month. I'm a college professor and he works a lot and the best time for us to have one is this memorial day weekend. The invitations have been mailed and rsvp received...can't wait. It's more like a bbq nothing too formal.

We got engaged last year in July and didn't have an engagement party until this March... and our wedding day is not until next year! I had tons of fun and it was really important to me that the wedding party and the families get together a few times before the wedding. We had a really informal afternoon tea potluck, everyone brought something and it was really fun. Good luck to you both and have fun!

You're right!  Who cares what the stats say...do it your way!  We didn't have an engagement party, just an engagement dinner that my parents had for us.  My dad prepared steaks on the grill & my mom did everything else.  It was intimate & very thoughtful.  That was about 2 weeks give or take after our engagement.  Have fun at the party!!

We got engaged after Christmas and are having our engagement party in June. We originally were going to have it in March but FSIL ended up having her bridal shower that weekend and announced it before we sent out the invites. We decided just to wait until her wedding was over to avoid any other possible conflicts. His aunt wanted to  host it for us. I don't think anyone in family had an engagement party, so this will be a new thing for them. Should be fun!

A lot of people will also say that the bride and groom shouldn't throw their own e-party but I don't care about that rule either. We are buying a house this september so that is when we will have a house warming/e-party.
