Ask a Question
Ceremony Refreshment??

Update: Our site is being a bit of a stinker and won't let us do this:(
Is anyone offering their guests drinks (water, soda, lemonade???) during the ceremony? Is this tacky? BE HONEST:)
I would want it served like cocktails, with the waiters stationed around the ceremony area before it starts, and the drinks would have to be in actual glasses, not plastic ones.
Should I have someone pass it out before the ceremony or just have a little self serve table people can go to before they sit down?
Every time I go to my favorite spa, I am served this delicious and refreshing cucumber water. I think that offering this water during the ceremony would be a cute, considerate touch (our ceremony is outside in JUNE by the beach.... the Island stays fairly cool, but it will still be rather warm). I make my own everyday with just cucumber but I found a recipe that I am hoping our site will be able (AND WILLING) to make:

LEMON MINT CUCUMBER WATER
1/4 a cucumber, sliced thin
a lemon, sliced thin
sprigs of mint
2 quarts water

Add cucumber, lemon and mint in a pitcher. Fill with water. Enjoy!

I don't think it would be tacky.  Since it's outdoors and will be warm I think it would be nice to offer your guests refreshment.  The recipe sounds delicious and I'm sure your guests will appreciate it.

I think the cucumber lemon water will be refreshing and your guests will appreciate it!  We're doing this too, using these photos as our inspiration:

Something old=lemonade; something new=peach punch; something borrowed=cucumber lemon water (from my spa too!); something blue=TBD.  The sign will be like the chalkboard on the table, and we'll be serving them in glass pitchers.

(We're expecting 250 - 300 guests, and I loved the variety this idea gives to everyone's tastes.  Plus, I no longer have to worry about my "somethings" anymore!)

I think your guests would very much appreciate it! Especially since it is outside in June, it is going to be hot. I think it would be a nice touch.

oy my response didn't post!  Anyway I think it's a great idea--especially in summer.  Have you also considered maybe also having regular plain water for those who might not to drink/try the cucumber water?  I would have it set up in the back or wherever you are having your ceremony.  That way once people are seated, they don't have to get up and down---less commotion.  Also make sure you have trash cans available so the guests can throw away their cups (assuming you will be having disposable)...oh and napkins in case there are accidnets or the cups begin to sweat.

I would love it if someone did this at one of the million weddings i've attended.  However, it has yet to happen!!!  I wanted to do it also after I read about it on here...but everyone has told me its really tacky...passing out plastic cups with a drink.  So i'm not doing it....but as a guest I would of loved it.  :)

I love it

This is a great idea.  Since you are going to have it in glasses instead of paper cups it will be really cool to have the servers pass them out as well, very classy chic
