Wedding Decoration
centerpieces, table decor

The first picture looks almost exactly how I want my tables to look for the reception....

We will be using black table cloths, & making our own damask runners. I'm also going to scatter red rose petals, but not as heavily as the picture shows.

The second & third pictures are floating candles with submerged flowers. I really LOVE this idea! I'm thinking of one tall cylinder vase with the submerged flower & floating candle per table, then surrounded by smaller votive candles.

I'm planning on making the centerpieces myself, so ladies if you have any advice on how to do it, or what kind of flowers I should use feel free to leave me a comment =]

I love your ideas for table decor.  That first pic is beautiful.  The centerpieces should be really easy to do.  All you need is flowers (I would suggest orchids) and a candle.  You cut the flowers so that they fit in the vase.  Fill the vase with water and add the candle to the top.  You can put something in the bottom like rocks, crystals etc.  HTH!

The centerpieces are gorgeous! If you decide to use roses as the submerged flower, you will need to anchor the bottom stem to prevent it from rising. You can use fish wire line and tie some sort of weight. Use gem stones or river rocks to cover the anchor.

Very pretty ideas!
Use distilled water, or you get little bubbles all over the flowers and vase.
Tulips, orchids and roses work best submerged, my personal favourite is tulips, don't know why. lol.
If you want them like the third picture you will need more flowers but all you have to do is cut them and stick them in the vase, then stick a floating candle on top to keep it all in place.
If you are using the full stems you will have to wire them, which is going to take up a lot more time. Or use enough to sort of 'stuff' them into place.
Also, If you use fresh flowers, you don't want to do it too far ahead of time, as the water can get 'foggy' looking.

The easiest way would actually be to get some faux blooms and experiment. My sister did a wedding with submerged silk tulips, she was able to do them 2 or 3 days ahead of time and under the water they looked completely real. Just depends on the quality of the silk.

Thanks for commenting fellow Maconite! :)

I'm using a very similar table setup and linens.  Does your venue provide linens?  If not, have you decided where you are getting yours from?

I have some black/white damask table cloth (120" round) and table runner (12" x 110") available for rent after October 3.  I'll rent the round table cloth which will fit a round 5ft table to the floor for $10 each and the table runner $3 each.  I live in Texas so you will have to pay for shipping to/from your location.

Would these go good for a garden/tropical theme?
