slideshow before the ceremony?

So..I know it is somewhat common to have a slideshow of pictures at a reception, whether it runs throughout, or just plays for a few minutes before or during..but, has anyone ever heard of having a slideshow at the church before the ceremony? my church has the projector that displays the hymns, etc during sermons, so i had a thought to possibly have a slideshow before the ceremony while we're playing music as guests arrive. i'm not really sure if this is a common thing or what people really think of the idea so i'm hoping for some opinions!

I've never seen the slide show at the church and you don't want anyone lauging out too loud at your old pics (if you plan on using any of those). It is still a church. You might want to make sure that it would be ok with the church first.

I am having a slide show during the seating portion of the ceremony. The church we are using has a screen and projector included in the price and with the reception site, i would have to rent everything. So, for me it was about cost and I thought that it would be nice while everyone was waiting during that short period.

My friend did this at her wedding.  On the plus side, it was nice to have something to watch before the ceremony started and it kinda got you in the mood for love!  I would say if your church/service is going to be very traditional, maybe save it for the reception since the pictures will be a more casual, fun thing.  If it's not traditional, I'd say go for it if you want.

yes, those were my thoughts as well [virgonae]..we just got the church reserved so it's not something i know for sure we can do yet, but i definitely want to consider it! thanks..
