Wedding Cake
Help me choose

I have been going back and worth about the cake for months. I like the whole idea of fancy wedding cake but I also like the cupcake cakes as well. But my mom think the cupcake is tacky and untraditional and mt Fiance likes both. I need help choosing!

Please help me ? Choose One

Option 1: Fancy Cake
Option 2: Cupcake Cake

UPDATE: We decided to have the cupcake cake for the rehersal dinner and the fancy cake for the wedding reception. It feels good to compromise with the future hubby.

My FH & mom were against me on this one because I wanted cupcakes! For the same reasons as your mom: Untraditional, tacky my mom even said it looks cheap.

We're getting a fancy cake but I would definitely choose cupcakes because that gives each guest their own individual cupcake instead of having to cut a bigger cake.  You could also get one small tier to have something to cut for pics and stuff and then the rest can be cupcakes.

I like cupcakes - so simple and easy -no cutting involved. I totally agree with misstoni26's entire comment lol.

You can have both...the "top" tier can be a cake and the other tiers can be cupcake....see the links.  I LOVE the cupcake idea!

i say a tiered cake, or do a smaller tiered cake with cupcakes around it.
im not a fan of the cupcakes too much, i think they are cute, but not elegant

We did both...all tables had the cupcakes as their centerpiece and then still had a smaller 4 tiered wedding cake to cut and for reserved tables and wedding party to eat...you can kind of see the cake in the background.

Personally, I would do a cake.  However, cupcakes are becoming very popular.  Perhaps you can do part wedding cake, part cup cakes.  I saw a beautiful picture of one......just can't remember where.  If I find it again, I will let you know.

We're doing something like this

except with the top two tiers being real cake. I'm really excited about it and I don't think it looks cheap at all. I feel like you should make a decision based on your (and FH's) happiness and forget about all the other opinions. Plus then you can have like eight different flavours so theres something for everyone!!

The Marshalls on I-10 west and Bunkerhill like going to Memorial City mall, has plenty of cupcake stands for 14.99. It holds 18 cupcakes! I grabbed one for my bridal shower! Just thought I'd share since you're in my area.
