Confetti Tags
Ok, I'm not quite sure why they call these confetti tags, but I designed a circle and palm tree tag to keep with the tropical design. I then printed them on really heavy paper 100lb paper from the art area of Michaels. I'm going to cut out the circle and hole punch the top for a ribbon and attach them to our OOT bags.

OOT Bags
It's funny because I am so anxious for everything to get going. The advantage of having a destination wedding is that you don't have to do any real planning; ie. reception, cater, DJ, location. But it leaves a lot of free time and lets my mind get creative. Mike and I have decided to make Out-Of-Town bags (OOT Bags) for all of our guests. We are going to include the following in each of the bags as well~
Personal Thank-you note Tropical Lip balm-Avon sunscreen bottle of water bug spray Postcards Insulated Travel Cups Map of Playa del Carmen Personalized Booklet - Activities list for resort and event & phone numbers |

Water Bottle
Our Wedding - It will be hot and at the beach.. We decided to create labels for the water bottles that we are going to hand out at the wedding. Attached is a copy of the label that I designed. I also have the template if anyone is interested or I can help them out with it.

Bridesmaids
Who to ask?
Well since is it a destination wedding and we want to keep it small, how do you decide who to ask to stand up with you? Mike and I opted to use our siblings. We both have one on each side, but mine is a wild child! I don't think she has a single part of her body that doesn't have a tattoo! I love her to death, but we are very different. As we have gotten on in years we have formed a close relationship with each other that keeps us sane against the craziness of family. Nothing brings out crazy like family and a wedding!
My sister and I are about 6 years apart and polar opposites, but we have united on the wedding front and she is my support! We decided to go with a turquoise strapless dress and hits just below the knees. I love it and figure it will look beautiful with the ocean backdrop. |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
What a knock out!
OK I have the best Fiancé... I know everyone says that, but I really think I do.
We never went ring shopping or even discussed what I would like, so it was a total surprise that he went with a classic! I love the 4 prong tiffany setting and my wedding band is just a thin band of diamonds that will sit flush with the engagement ring. My ring is beautiful! And I could not be happier, well except for when I get the guy and the band that goes with it! |

Wedding Dress
Do they all have to look like creampuffs?
Ok, so now I'm engaged and I have to start planning. What is the first order of business? The dress of course! Well we had decided to do a destination wedding on the beach, so I was determined to find the perfect dress. I bought every bridal magazine that was available that month and started to look, but every dress I saw looked like the girl on top of the wedding cake. They were beautiful, but lets be serious, how silly would I look at a beach wedding in a dress that had 15 layers on tulle and was starched to the hilt? Not to mention the issue of transportation. Whatever I decide to wear, it would have to be loaded on a plane and fit in the overhead bin!
So now that I realized that I would not be able to do the traditional dress, I started to really do research. I found out that it takes 4-5 months to order a dress and another month for alterations, so taking all that into account, I had to order my dress a month before I got engaged! Who knew it would be so hard?!? Well I decided that the single rack of destination dresses at the bridal shop just were not me, so I started my online search. Well I found the dress of my dreams, only problem, it would not be available for order until June 2009! It is a Maggie Sottero destination dress, but I found it online and ordered in from a knock off manufacturer. I took 3 weeks and I just got it.... It is BEAUTIFUL and just like the picture. I could not have asked for a better dress and not a single layer of tulle in sight! |

The Proposal
How it all started...
People think that dating on-line is so taboo and if someone does do it they don't talk about it... Well I am here to tell you that it does work! I met my fiancé just over a year ago on Match.com! Can you believe it! MATCH.com of all places. I had just moved to Houston and my mother encouraged me to join so I would meet people and it would get me out of the house. I think her real motive was to up her chances to get grandchildren. Well I met Mike 2 weeks later and the rest is history!
He proposed the day after my birthday in November 2008. We planned a trip to San Antonio, TX and went to Sea World for the day. About half way through the day, Mike surprised me with the Beluga Whale Interactive Experience, so we got to go behind the scenes and get suited up in wet suits and get in the tanks with 2200lb beluga whales! It was awesome. 45 minutes into the event, Mike thru out a Buoy and the whale returned it. Written on the buoy was "Will You Marry Me?" and I looked over and Mike was on his knee with the ring! It was all incredibly romantic and totally a surprise! |
