Bridal Shower
Keep the theme a secret?

My friend is awesome and wants to throw me a bridal shower. She wants to know if it's customary to keep it the theme a secret or is okay for her to tell me.

So after reading your comments, i decided i'd let my girls suprise me too. It is really nice knowing that i dont have to plan something and i'm super excited to see what the theme is going to be... god i hope it's not bridal barbie... i'd die!

It's not considered wrong or untraditional to let the bride know the general plans of the shower.  Getting too specific, I think, leads to the bride wanting to plan the shower, and getting stressed over that as well.

I think it's more fun to give the bride a few surprises at the shower.

I don't think it matters either way.  My girls are keeping everything a secret, and while I think it is sweet, it is also killing me not knowing!!  I love to plan things so it is hard for me to step back and let them go at it. I know it will turn out wonderful so I'm excited!!  So I think it is up to what you would like.

My shower will be a complete secret - until I actually arrive at the venue.  I picked out the venue in NY, and my girls are planning everything.  It's definitely fun with my trying to guess what they are doing, and the girls telling me to stay out of it :)  Us brides have so much other stuff going on, I actually love that they are doing everything.  I don't think it's customary either way, but it's fun for it to be a surprise :)

My shower is at my sister's house.  Since my MOH lives in Germany she and my other sister are having a ball planning it.  They asked me what I wanted, and I said do whatever you want.  I want it to be a surprise.
