I am wracking my breaking trying to figure out what to do for centrepieces! Our colours are dark tea...

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
We have our Ring Bearer & Flower Girl!
So as I briefly mentioned in a previous post, we have an unconventional ring bearer and flower girl! Our two "fur babies" will be taking these roles at our wedding as they are truly our closest family members that resemble kids! :) None of our close relatives nor close friends have children, so this just made sense for us.
One the venue cleared that we could have them (at first this wasn't the case, but thanks to some very accommodating new management this changed!), I started thinking on attire, and more interestingly - how we could have one dog "hold" the rings without losing them. Of course I turned to my good 'ole reliable - Etsy! Sure enough, I found yet another amazing vendor; WentzDesigns. Check out the pictures to see what she came up with! I'm SO excited! Mali, our mixed breed, will be the flower girl. Axel, our Boston Terrier, will be the ring bearer (yes, Axel too is a girl! ;) Check out the fabulous clip that the very clever creator put on Axel's collar for the rings! Amazing!!! I'm so pleased and excited! Axel will be with the Best Man while Mali will be with the Maid of Honor. Each will have teal collars and leashes. Fabulous!!! |

Wedding Decoration
Rehearsal Dinner Prep
So our rehearsal dinner is on August 18th; 2 days before the wedding.
Since our wedding is going to be bright and modern, we decided on a more traditional, historic venue for the rehearsal dinner. As a result I found yet more fabulous vendors on Etsy; and came across some neat pinwheels that I'm making to compose the decor. The venue is actually a brewery, so we've been collecting a few of their beer bottles to use for the centerpieces. The room we have booked dates back to the late 1800s (or at least a part of it does as another portion was affected by fire) and has stone walls and shabby wooden tables. It's SO cozy! In the beer bottles, we're going to put pinwheels (I'm making) as pictured, in the colors of our wedding, but muted! (The image shown uses paper that doesn't match our colors, but I wanted to do some test runs!) The straws (we have pink, teal, and purple polka-dotted paper straws that are SUPER sturdy!) were made by HeyYoYo (Etsy) and the paper, pins (hearts that I think I'll switch to larger ones for the final products) and peacock feather stamp all came from my local Michael's store. In addition to what is pictured, I'm going to add a little crystal in the eye of each peacock feather stamp (I have teal, purple and navy ink!), and I'm thinking I'll snag a personalized stamp from Etsy with our names and wedding date for the panel (top right) across from the feather stamp. Another Etsy search! :) In addition, my fellow WBC-er hannikay made the most fabulous discovery for her wedding - banners by makentake on Etsy. After seeing hers, I promptly ordered up one for myself! Having so much fun! Linds |

Gift Opening
Hello all!
I'm looking for some opinions and ideas today! My FH and I have been chatting about a gift opening. We really had not given it a lot of thought up until now, but the time is growing short and we'll have to plan soon if we're going to do this. I'm wondering: 1) Did you have one/do you plan on having one? Is it traditional where you live? 2) What will you serve there in terms of food? Traditional brunch? Is it an appropriate venue to have bar service at? 3) What type of venues did you/will you use? Thank you so much!!! |

Engagement
E-Photos
The FH and I FINALLY had engagement photos taken yesterday!! We really had not been in a rush as we had no intentions of using the photos for wedding related things like the invites, but I did want to have them done in a season dissimilar to the wedding (summer). We had been on "weather hold" for a few weeks waiting on the perfect day with fresh snow, not too much wind, and of course; no rain! For those of you that have heard of or been to Newfoundland, you know how tricky that is around here!!
Well, yesterday was a great day! There was a light dusting of fresh snow and not too much bright sun. It was mostly overcast and calm with the occasional flurry. Our wedding photog was gracious enough to romp around in the snow with us to get some neat shots. I can't wait to get them back and to share them with you guys! She showed me a couple of previews on her camera before we left and I absolutely can't wait to see the rest!!! Stay tuned for an update to this post! ;) |

Wedding Music And Songs
...And More!
It has been a big week of wedding things for me!
First of all, since I chose the subject to be "Wedding Music and Songs", I'll start there. A very near and dear old friend of mine was asked to play at our wedding, and I just got word last evening that he should be able to make it. I am absolutely beside myself with excitement! I didn't even want to select music until I knew if he could attend, but now that things are looking promising, FH and I sat down this morning and did up a list of ceremony songs! :) Here are our selections: Processional (Bridesmaids enter): "Love you til the End" by the Pogues Of course this will be slowed down and on one instrument; hopefully flute! When I enter, it will switch over to "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones on Sax! For the Signing of the Registry: "The Prayer" by Celine Dion and Recessional: "All You Need is Love" also on sax With all that done, I am also excited to announce that we got word earlier in the week that our dogs are now going to be able to be our flower girl and ring bearer! Previous management at our ceremony venue were not going to permit this, but someone new has taken over and saw the request on our file. She actually called us to see if we would still want that, and boy was I excited!! Now I just have to find them nice collars to match the wedding colors! Finally; my best friend and Maid of Honor got engaged herself on Friday night! I am so thrilled for her and I know she is going to love all the planning and excitement as much as I'm loving it!!! That about brings you up to speed on all things wedding here. Next on tap is cake design! Stay tuned for updates! ;) |

Wedding Details
6 Months to the Day!
This morning we're starting to work out some of the details for our Honeymoon! We're planning on going to Hawaii... now we just have to decide where exactly we'll stay and visit. We'll be going to the Big Island, but we have to decide where else we'll go as we plan to do 2 islands. Exciting stuff!
Has anyone done Hawaii as a vacation or honeymoon? Any suggestions as to the "must dos"? I would love to hear your ideas! In more wedding news, the RSVPs are coming in, and I have received the bridesmaids' jewelry! It is even more lovely than it looks in the photos! Fabulous!! My MOH is also planning a trip down to help me do a bit of wedding prep. We haven't seen each other in far too long, so I'm really pleased about that! Finally, we've planned our Engagement photos for next Sunday. We don't plan to use them for print materials or anything, but I'm really excited to get to know our photographer, and to have her get to know us and our style. I'm sure I'll post a few here once we get them back! Until next time! xoxo |

Wedding Odds and Ends
Dress Fitting and More Decor!
Well first and foremost, the dress fitting went wonderfully! :) It was my first fitting and I was real nervous, but the dress was everything I had hoped for and more. It even fit near-perfectly! The only alteration required was to shorten the length just a touch, add the clips for the bustle, and a few modifications to the appearance that I requested (some add-ons and slight changes). I still won't share a photo, but you'll see it in just over 6 mos! ;)
Now that the dress is almost set to go, I have to get my bridesmaids' dresses altered as necessary. In other news, people are starting to receive their invitations! We have even received some RSVPs already and I'm so pleased!!! Finally, I wanted to share a couple of other little pieces of decor with you. We received our floor decal! :) It's perfect!!! The one shown in the photo had my name spelled incorrectly, but that has since been corrected and it's great. Thanks to ten23designs on Etsy!!! We also have some colorful napkins for the rehearsal dinner in teal, turquoise, magenta, navy and purple! Each one has the message shown left embossed on it. These were done by terequade on Etsy. The excitement continues!!! xoxo |

Wedding Dress
First Fitting on Friday!
So I'm off to try the dress on Friday!! I can't believe that time is here already! When I bought the gown in August, it felt as if it would be forever before I could see it again. Looking back now - it felt like yesterday!
The good news - I've lost 10lbs (and a smidge)! I'm hoping to get rid of 5 more before the final dress fitting, but I'm quite pleased with how the getting in shape is going! The better news - I have 2 amazing bridesmaids that are making the trip with me for the fitting! I'm so excited to see what they think of the dress, and to get their opinions on some changes I have asked to make to the original design of the dress. I was not permitted to take photos the first trip to the salon, so they have only seen the gown online. Very very excited! I have a feeling this will be a long week!! I will certainly post an update when I get back! :) |

Wedding Invitation
The Assembly Begins!
First of all... please pardon the poor quality of the photos. My point-and-shoot isn't the best for detail nor color!
However, here's a sample of the final product!!! We have started sealing up the invitations to mail out next week with 199 days to go before the wedding! :) The return wrap-around address labels are thanks to PaperPatchINK on Etsy. The return address labels I created myself. Hubby-to-be decided on the ribbon color and envelope seal (I was most impressed!) and as per an earlier post, a photographer friend of mine created and printed the invites themselves. They tend to lose a touch of the effect with parts of the addresses blotted out, but I'm sure you get the idea. I'm really pleased with the final product and can't wait to mail them out! :) |
