Ask a Question
Where do you honeymoon when you get married in the heat of summer?!?
I'm confused - again - LOL!

I always planned on a fall wedding, and part of the reason WHY is because why on earth would I want to take a tropical honeymoon in AUGUST? It always seemed so silly to me, and I've always dreamed of doing an "all inclusive" Sandals type thing.

So, now that we've changed our date to mid summer, I'd LOVE to hear some ideas of where we can go for the week following the wedding!

Where are you summer brides going?

We live just outside of Toronto, Ontario... in case you need to know.

I'd love some feedback - thanks!!!!!!

We live in San Diego, CA and the weather is always perfect. Many come to honeymoon here, so we decided to keep it local for the honeymoon and we loved every minute of our beautiful beach city!!

I am also outside of TO (about 4hrs away)! We are getting married July 25, 2009, and were in the same boat as you. We decided to do a shorter, less extravagent honeymoon right after the wedding to Niagara Falls. We will spend a few days sight seeing, relaxing, etc. We will then take our "real" honeymoon to an all-inclusive resort somewhere HOT in January or Feb of 2010. Its win-win for us, we have an excuse to get two honeymoons, and we will get to do the all-inclusive resort when the weather is best there, and worst here!

What about renting a cottage or going to a resort in cottage country? I'm not sure if you've been up this way, but Huntsville / Muskokas are BEAUTIFUL in summertime. We are further north, its just as nice up here, but black flies are killer that time of year. Tons of bug spray it doesn't really make for a romantic getaway!

well, you can go to panama!! they have a beautiful spa resort right in the middle of the rainforest and you could go on nature hikes and partake in other activities on the resort. You could also try skiing in colorado, go to South America, London, England. There are many places to go try www.vacationstogo.com they have all kinds of "all inclusive" vacation deals. I live in Oklahoma so i do not live by the beach...so thats why we are going to the beach after our June wedding!!

We are getting married July 26th this year, and we live just 2 hours north of TO, Owen sound??? may have heard of it..... but we are planning a honeymoon in Jan for the dominican.... we chose that because we registered for the honeymoon and that leaves us time to save for the honeymoon since we are spending so much on the wedding.....

My sister got married August 12, 2006. They went to Sandals in St. Lucia the following week and had an awesome time. It was hot yes but they had an amazing vacation and said it was just great. Also my sister is a redhead and gets badly burned in the sun but she said with lots of sunblock she did just fine. I'm sure if she can handle the sun then anyone can!

We're getting married in July 2009, and I agree its too hot to head south... we're looking at going to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward's Island. An awesome cottage on the Shore of the ocean all to ourselves, and there's a ton of stuff to do there - sea kayaking, is one thing I deff wanna do! It's perfect for couple's who want a romantic honeymoon, and just hang out and relax together. :)

Hi! I am from just 1hr north of TO although i live in TO now with my Fi.  Originally we were going to wait until december for our honeymoon, but then we found out that his mom might take the family on an all-inclusive for christmas so we decided to find a deal (waiting till a week before the wedding) and just go to either Mexico, Cuba or the Dominican to a nice 5-star.  Everyone says you need at least a few days getaway after the wedding so that's what we are doing.  Then another trip at christmas, and we are going to San Jose in May 2009 (for his work) so free trip!!!  3 trips in one year sounds like a good honeymoon to me!...Good luck!
ps. if you haven't been to Cuba, the beaches are AMAZING!
