I am in love with this Carnival Wedding!
Well hello gorgeous, I am in love with this carnival wedding!
http://redheartphoto.com/blog/2009/11/17/amy-jesse-wedding-moli%e2%80%99i-gardens-part-three/ When we first decided to do this carnival theme wedding I had only seen three online, this is about the seventh or eigth and I think by far probably my favorite though I love aspects of all of them, this one just made me giddy, I called Dave and told him to check out the photos haha I couldn't wait until he got home to share. It was fluke that I realized I forgot to check rock n roll bride these past couple days and this greeted me... love love love it gets me so excited for our wedding to see how well these carnvials are pulled off. Check out that ceiling swag, definitely want this for our dinner and dance room, dilemma overcome whoot! Kissing booth and photo op included, I cannot contain myself! Hehe had to share with your ladies, check out the other two parts as well, what a gorgeous couple. Their party even danced down the aisle at the ceremony. It should be able to be seen here http://redheartphoto.com/blog/category/photography-2/ if not look up Amy & Jesse. These photos give me so much joy and enthusiasm for our own wedding, hope it turns out as lovely as this one! |

Popcorn Centerpieces?
First of all I want to say thank you ladies for all your support, feedback and great ideas and sharing links with me, it has led to lots of inspiration, you are all amazing!
At first I was wary of edible centerpieces because we were planning on having fresh popcorn and cotton candy on site but we might make some changes. I saw this http://beautifulpaper.typepad.com/oh_so_beautiful_paper/2009/01/real-invitations-liz-ryan.html I love everything here! Their escort cards are amazing, photo sticks in kettle corn, which got me thinking yum, kettle corn is great in that it doesn't have to be kept hot and doesn't get stale quickly, which got Dave thinking mmm kettle corn haha so I think we may borrow this idea and use it for centerpieces. Red trays with movie style bags of kettle corn for each guest at the table and have our table number with a photo from our engagement session sticking up from the center. Budget Bonus: Spares us the cost of renting the machine and someone to operate it and still yummy and doubles as a favor |

Wedding Flowers
Alternative?
Maybe I am naive but I am shocked by the prices florists charge for centerpieces and bouquets! As much as I love the funky bouquet I posted a while ago it just isn't that important to me. Our wedding is already taking a whimsical plunge so I think pinwheels would be perfect not to mention great for photo ops. I love this shot courtesy of http://thedesigngrove.blogspot.com/2009/10/new-take-on-bridesmaid-bouquets.html I love it! Can you tell? hehe
Now to figure out what I want to do about centerpieces... hmm any ideas ladies? If I can't find an alternative I'll probably go with red and yellow gerberas alternating colors at tables, two in a simple vase or something, we'll have to see whats left in the budget! |

Wedding Reception
Menu
So since we can't very well have a fast food truck drive in to our venue and have to use their caterer we met with the venue to see if we could create a custom menu that matches our theme and they were great to work with.
The head of catering listened to our vision and even gave us some imput and great suggestions. The main attraction will be a burger bar,and set up buffett style will be sweet potatoe fries, seasoned wedges, onion rings, veggie skewers, cold potato salad and garden salad and rolls. We had to increase our food budget but I think it will be worth it! Also having popcorn and cotton candy still later on :) Yummy |

Ideas & Plans
Sorry this is kind of long. The past week has been hectic, we had to find a new venue and make a lot of major decisions pertaining to our wedding on top of working very opposite hours but we pulled through!
We no longer have our venue, but the carnival will go on! Dave & I were very disappointed when the chair of the local community group told us that they would have to tear down the set up the day of our wedding because of a mix up between vendors. I lost it but Dave persuaded me maybe this was a sign and that we could finally reign in this wedding crazyness. We still love the idea of a carnival but it was getting a little out of hand with everything. We have found a new venue for both the ceremony and reception. It is a resort so our out of town guests will be on site for a discounted rate and everything is within walking distance no driving necessary. Our wedding will have more traditional aspects than the last plan but we are happy and so are our families which means a lot to us. Changing the venue meant changing our catering options but thats fine we are very content. Our ceremony will be overlooking a lake on a deck that has gorgeous panoramic views and then we will send guests to our reception room where our carnival games will be set up and waiting to be played, and our face cutouts will be ready for photographing. We plan on joining our guests as soon as we can to join in the fun before the adjoining dinner hall and dancefloor room is opened up. We are having a dinner buffet, sharing our cupcakes then starting the music. We'll still have our cotton candy machine & popcorn in the corner and mid dance we'll have a hotdog and fry cart available in the games room. The games will be available all night the rooms are adjoining and I think it will be a great set up. To be honest I am happy we had to opportunity to have a dance, I realized originally with our setup there was not much opportunity for it and I love to dance. Theres also a deck so weather permitting the room opens up to it expanding it even more. One nice thing is I can finally stop worrying about weather, if it rains or if its too hot because my dress is massive (but I love it!) So we have sacrificed a few things, mostly the best entertainment for the little ones but not many children will be coming to the wedding. We had anticipated quite a few but our flower girls will not be attending as their parents recently informed us, I don't understand some of my family sometimes, they fall in and fall out but I'm not putting up with it, as for the boys their parents said they would be just as happy to be guests but we'll find something special for them. Its a far cry from our original plans, even our intial carnival plans but we hope it incoporates the best of both worlds and still think it is going to be a reflection of us and the things we love with the ones we love! |

Favors
Too Adorable
I love these lollypop stands, I think they would make a really cute favor for our guests, the only thing is we are already having cotton candy and popcorn so I don't want to over do the sweet stuff... but I thought I would share in case any other brides who want to do a candy display are looking for something different.
We having been making more progress, our save the dates and invitations are ordered and should be in any day! Also I would like to thank you ladies who have been posting links for me. I love them all! Those diy circus cut outs are great, I definitely want to do our own now, so much prettier than the plastic ones! Dave has all his musical toys out in the barn and thats where he hangs out with the boys so I need to find somewhere to set up shop! |

Another carnival wedding for inspiration!
Today on rock n roll bride there is a gorgeous carnival wedding featured http://www.rocknrollbride.com/2009/09/the-carnival-wedding/#more-21957 everything looks great. Its nice to have another source of inspiration. Carnival weddings aren't very common but every one that I have seen is so beautiful. I am excited for ours we are meeting with a couple of our vendors later today to go over what exactly we will be getting for our wedding and what we will diy.

Wedding Invitation
Save The Dates & Invitations
We still want to do the artwork and a few engagement pictures but when I saw this stationary I was in LOVE! These designs are by the Wedding Chicks but we are borrowing the idea in our colors for our save the dates and invitations. Circus font some scroll clipart It is perfect, and getting them done ourselves will be a lot more budget friendly. I think it is a fun hint about what is to come and then we will save the pictures for sharing at the reception!
