E-pic Ideas
I love engagement sessions that utilize oversized balloons for some reason. Dave and I are thinking a great photo shoot would involve all white outfits and some balloons in our wedding colors even if we don't use them for anything wedding related I still think it would be fun to shoot and have up and around our future home.

Photo Op
I thought this was so cute at Charles and Courtney's Wedding and happened to stumble across the same thing on oriental trading company's website Its under $10 Its just plastic but mounted to some plywood it makes for a great photo opportunity. We might order one as a back up, but I'm going to sketch some other ideas and it may become a diy project! Still have 1 year to work on those :)

Wedding Hair Style
Headpiece
I'm not sure if I want a veil or headpiece but thought I would share this find with WBC. Its a very fun piece~ I was thinking maybe for one of the pre wedding day parties it would be fun or to have it incoporated into some engagement pics/the invitations. Dave wants some ring leader esque for what we send out to the guests though the day of he will be in a tradtional black suit and nothing outrageous though we've seen some awesome grooms outfits on offbeat bride! For myself I'm still looking for something magician's assistant or acrobatic, something fun. We would like to do a photo shoot in costume and have the pictures around the wedding and as mentioned previously get an artist to reproduce it vintage painting style for the invites!

Wedding Dress
Crinoline and Bridal Party Colors
So as I posted previously I am another bride who wants a colored crinoline. I was thinking red or yellow and have red shoes already so I think I want to go with yellow. I found a great picture of this combo on the backyard wedding blog. I love it!

As of now we have an uneven bridal party but aren't too worried we;re thinking of putting girls in yellow and the guys in red vests under their suits or maybe forgoing suits and just having black pants white shirts and red vests depends on the weather! I actually have a couple close guy friends that I would love to have in the wedding we are going to ask them to be ushers or bridesmen and they will have yellow vests.

Tentative Carnival Plans
. This weekend we did some "wedding research" hehe we went to a little carnival and it was so much fun it really made us feel like the carnival is what we want to do. Maybe its a little out there but its going to be so much fun and reflect things we love we are behind the idea completely now. When we were paused at the top while others were getting on and off we just smiled and said imagine this on the big day being able to see everyone and the whole wedding site. It's going to very different but great.

For our reception we plan on renting a 12 seat ferris wheel, and some classic carnvial games that will be set up in booths. Some kind of entertainer for the kids, thinking balloon artist as well as a bouncy inflatable to keep the wee ones entertained so everyone can enjoy the day.

For food we are thinking of getting a fast food truck as well as the cotton candy/popcorn carts that are found at carnivals so that guests can go and get food whenever they are hungry and there will be constant service. Classic burgers, hotdogs, vegan options, onion rings, sweet potato fries, regular spuds We'll have picnic tables set up around the outskirts of the set up so people will be away from the bustle to talk but close enough to observe everything. At some point we'll have our cake and first dance and family dances probably earlier in the reception for everyone to see, then let guests help themselves to cake. Every station is going to be manned by the company's staff so it will not be like self serve. Honestly I am a little worried about what our older relatives are going to think about going up to a fry and burger truck instead of being served a sit down meal but for the most part I think they know this will be more "us"

We'll also have old fashioned soda and bottled water as beverages. We're tentatively planning on no alcohol due to a few circumstances at least not at the carnival. We may have a few hours of dancing when the sun goes down inside the tent the ceremony is in before calling it a night. In that case we'll simply have a keg or two and basic bar shots with the same selection of non alcholic beverages. The cost is a lot lower for our list of what we want than we were expecting so thats a bonus. We have lots of time to finalize plans but its so nice to plan together. Dave is away alot with his work which has caused a couple ups and downs over our relationship but he's shown that he is very committed to this wedding and starting our life together as a married couple it makes me so happy :)

Do you ladies think that the food booths are a bit much? Should we opt for a sit down? I would love imput!

Wedding Invitation
Vintage Artwork Inspired
I love these posters that Charles and Courtney had at their wedding. We're thinking of getting one of our more artistic friends to do a similar rendering of us to use on the invitations with the information and a website/phone number to rsvp on the back. . Kind of like those children's birthday invitations that have the 5 w's lol for out of town guests and those that are not familiar with the area I will print out a map and a list of accomodations and package it together.

The admission tickets are also a cute idea, we're thinking maybe of using different color tickets for the bride and groom sides to present to the ushers. So many ideas!

Wedding Dress
The Great Debate
I bought this dress for our first planned wedding a few months ago on a trip to vegas..It is a classic beauty, a little plain but I am thinking about dressing it up with a red or yellow crinoline. I'm hoping that will also give it a more fun shape. Also I already have my shoes, they are red ballet flats from payless, super comfy and perfect for an all day event.

Part of me wants to go dress shopping again since this one was very random but then that is one word that describes my life perfectly. It was random that I decided to move across the country for a job, random to get stuck in an elevator with Dave, the list goes on and on so maybe it will work out fine. :)

We have our "big top" we plan on having the ceremony inside the tent then our reception will be outdoors, we will have a few carnival games set up, and are looking into getting a bouncy castle for the wee ones and a small ferris wheel to complete the "carnival" at some point we'll throw in the first dance and cake cutting, and need to figure out when would be best to serve food and if we want to bother with dancing. I think with or without it will still be a blast. We are so excited planning this, it makes us confident that things happen for a reason, our original planning was a little lacklustre but now we both have a similar vision and are stoked to see it come to life!

Our Story
Ellie and Dave: The Beginning, The Proposal & The Planning
Dave and I first met when we were stuck on an elevator together, it was between floors and we had to wait patiently for maintenance to fix it which gave us adequate time to chat and a even flirt a little. It was very random! Once we were back on our way up I was approaching my floor and he asked for my number. I thought he was cute so I gave it to him.

The next day he called and asked if he could take me out to dinner and show me the city since he had discovered I had just moved to BC from NB during our elevator chat. We clicked automatically and things naturally progressed into our relationship.

Three Years later there was a knock on my door, not expecting anyone and a little wary when I couldn't see anyone through the key hole I peeked out with the door still dead bolted to see Dave on one knee. My mind and heart raced making it hard for my hands to cooperate and open the door all the way. He proposed in the hallway but it was so genuine and sweet and a surprise it also made for good building chatter.

Originally we were planning on getting married earlier this month, 5 days ago but due to a family illness and death among other events the wedding was put to the back burner. We decided to give ourselves more time to plan the day this time and are aiming for August 8th of next year.

On a happier note we have both recieved raises and promotions at work so we can expand our budget and have more of our friends and family with us.

After seeing a carnival wedding featured on the knot we are in love with the idea and chose our day because it coincides with the ending of a local festival so we will just have to pay the local service district for our day, and recieve a large tent that covers an outdoor rink as well as the recreational field. Since the community is using the tent, chairs and tables for multiple nights prior the rate was irresistible . We figured it was a long shot but after a few long distance calls everyone seemed more than willing, gotta love community spirit!
