Save the Date. WHEW..glad to get them done! |
DONE! Save the Date
They are calendar magnets.
Here's a photo of our save the date. They are not as massive as when the photo is enlarged here. They are only about 4 x 5.5 inches.
The photo is not professinally done. It was taken by FMIL in her backyard next to her barbecue grill! LOL I just wanted to get it done and sent out! :) I have seen really beautiful engagement photos of some of you ladies on their save the dates. But we have been so busy (Christmas, Holidays, work, etc) that we have not been abe to do the engagement session that come with our photograhy package. Plus, my fiance wants to loose a couple more poundss he says! LOL. He is giving me a timeline of February for our engagement photo session. Bless his heart for he actually cares so much about the wedding preparation and how he will look at out "official" photo shoots! I can't help but smile and be grateful for this. |

Invitation
Sooo happy...I love these invites!!!
I have always wanted pocketfold invites and embossed printing for my invites. Some months ago I found this website that has really affordable, custom-made, and quality invitations. They can mix and match colors, designs and prints. This company captured the idea and picture in my head and the price is affordable. Love the Spanish lock detail and metallic paper contrast. The shape is dainty. I will ask them to tweak and add pocketfolds when I order, hopefully they can do it.
Here's the catch.....this company is overseas. Guess, I have to cross my fingers and hope for the best that they will be OK to work with. Here's the site: www.cardprints.com.ph ![]() Girly Graphics |

Wineglass Favor
A toast to groom's love of red wine
We are giving wineglasses for favors. It will be personalized with our first names and wedding date printed in our colors. Found some cheap blue somewhat sparkly organza bags online to wrap them in. The glasses will noy actually be used to serve wine at reception. We don't want to run the risk of having someone's beautiful dress be stained by red wine.

Ask a Question
Which wedding dress is better?
Please give me your honest opinion. I am going for a whim of romance and want it to be classy-looking. I have narrowed it down to 2 wedding dresses. They are somewhat polar opposites:
Dress 1 is an old-fashion beauty, with delicate beaded lace, "V" necklines on front and back and a dropped waistline. When I tried on the dress it fits me better than the model. In my eyes, the pictures don't do it justice. Sorry I can't post any pictures of me as the bridal shoppe would not let me take photos of the dress until I buy. Dress 2 is simple, classy, understated and just subtle in many ways. It has small tiny rows of beads on the bodice that gives it a slight sparkle. It is satin and fits me perfectly, actually accentuates my curves and hides "undesirables." |

Ask a Question
What personal wedding websites are you using?
I am shopping around for good personal wedding websites. FI and I would like to be able to post pertinent information about the wedding such as directions, accommodations and gift registry online. We would like to have it up for 8-10 months.
What do you recommend? If you are using one, how much is a good price for it? |

Eat This, Not That
Simple food swaps that can help you cut back on the calories, cholesterol and weight
This book recommends simple food swaps that can help you cut back on calories, cholesterol and weight. It's the little things we do and eat that add up to our health and fitness.
I have a full-time job, planning a wedding and gearing up on going to law school next year. When it rains it pours! It's not always easy to cook for one. Plus when I go on business travel, hotel and airport food are not always healthy. My tendency when I get too busy is to eat whatever and then exercise less and less. I want to look good and feel healthy on my wedding day and really dont have the time for rigid diet or nutrition plan. My goal is to eat sensibly even when I am on the go. Here's more info on the book: ( NO... I am not affiliated to the publisher of this book. LOL ) Author: David Zinczenko Matt Goulding Publisher: Rodale Pr (12/26/2007) ISBN: 1594868549 ISBN13: 9781594868542 List price: $19.95 (You can buy it used or cheaper at book discount websites) |

Monogram
...or my lack thereof
My pathetic attempt at making a monogram using Powerpoint is exactly that..pathetic! It did not have the visual impact I am going for. It lacked depth. Okay, I confess that I am great at envisioning something to DIY, but don't have the talent to execute. Photoshop is expensive.
I have attached some monograms that some WBC brides here recently posted. I hope my posting of your monograms do not offend you in any way. I know some of you did their monogram on first attempt and came out beautiful! WOW! I truly love your monograms. Probably the closest thing I will ever get to having a monogram is to live vicariously through you and your monogram. :) I know the last 2 pictures are not monograms, but I like the scroll and full border effect. It makes for a cohesive monogram or logo. The St. Regis Company logo is what I wanted to recreate but with our initials all entertwined, ofcourse. So now you get an idea why I am my own biggest enemy...I am aiming for what an expert graphic artist can do on a kindergarten level talent. LOL |

WANT A REALLY BIG WEDDING CAKE
HELP...Should I restrain myself? Is it gaudy?
Normally, I am not partial to pouf and actually want mostly everything about my wedding to be streamlined - no muss, no fuss. However, I am going for a wedding cake that screams....."I am a wedding cake in all my glory!"
I really like the spaced 5-tier look (pic 1) or possibly multi-level (pic 2). Should I restrain myself? Is it gaudy-looking? The more simple, smaller size ribboned cakes are eye cathing in their own way too. Hard to choose. There will be 200 guests at my wedding, so cake will have to be atleast 3-tiers, but definitely I prefer mine to be big. Flavorwise, I want it to be light, not too sweet as my wedding is in the summer. The look of it won't be "light" though....LOL Did I tell you that I love cake?! |

QUESTION:
Are any of you going COMMANDO underneath on your wedding day?!?
While I was trying on wedding gowns with my FMIL she suggested that I go "commando" on the wedding day. As I have always viewed her as a very conservative, retired school-teacher and an avid book reader. I did not know what to make of her comment and was shocked for a few seconds. Then we started laughing. As I spend more time with her she surprises me with her wit. Then she goes on, "So when Richard (her son, my husband to be) goes down there he gets a pleasant surprise!" She cracks me up. I love, love her...she is funny!

Question for blue brides
What flowers are you using and in what color?
I have always thought that my bridal bouquet will be all white as I have considered myself a classic traditional bride. However, when I started looking at some pictures . . . white bouquets don't stand out in front of white dress. It almost looks so drab. While I don't want the flower to take away from the dress, I want it to stand out a bit to add depth and definition to the pictures.
My favorite flower is the green cymbidium orchid and would like to incorporate this into my bouquet. I am going for a tight, formal, put-together look for the flowers. All the BMs are wearing blue. However, I don't know if adding green into my mix of Tiffany blue and silver color scheme is too much. |

My First Post, My First Blog
What's the easiest way to create an inspiration board?
So ladies, here I am venturing into my first post and my first blog.
I have been engaged for a little over 2 1/2 months now. Have been browsing WBC almost everyday since. This site has been very helpful. My hats off to the brides here. You certainly gave me a lot of great ideas and inspirations. Darn, now I have to get to work on some of the wonderful things I have seen DIY brides have done here. |
