Wedding Hair Style
new veil and hairstyle!
I found two pictures, one online (the main picture), and one in an old vogue magazine that had an 'at the races' shoot.
It was black wide netting with tiny crystals sewn scattered along the bottom. So I found a lady who is going to custom make it for me in white. It will be the same style as the picture, but wide Russian netting and crystals. Then I just wasn't happy with any idea I could come up with for my hair, so I went to 2 different places with a handful of printed of pictures that I liked and said "go to town". The first lady did alright, but it looked like what I do to my hair almost everyday, the second guy got it perfect! I am so excited :) He will be coming to the hotel that morning and doing me and both my girl's hair. He did my hair like the second picture, but with the braided headband, then the poof. He used extensions for it to add thickness, the braid looked just like the photo but the poof and little bun thingy were a bit more 'polished'. |

Venue
the Brock House
I've known for years that this is where i wante dto get married, it's perfect.
An outdoor ceremony under a enormous tree with the ocean right next to us, and a reception in a big white tent. We can move it inside if we have to, but I've decided the weather will be perfect :) I love the ceiling of the tent with the white fabric and chandeleirs, we will be using rectangular tables and all whtie decor. The property goes right onto Jericho beach and has a beautiful property so our pictures will be nice and easy :) |

Wedding Cake
Found my cake!
I finally found an all white cake I love. I think I may have our baker change the bottom layer just a bit. Just to add something interesting around the top of the bottom tier.
And I will also have her make the pintuck ruffle on the top tier a tiny bit smaller, and put on on each of the 4 sides. I'm still looking for a vintage bride and groom topper. But I want one from the 50's with the white arch and fluffy tulle :) I found a site for a DIY tablecloth that I love, (the one in the photo). I'm going to do it in all white though< (obviously, lol), and with for or five layers of fringe. (Just using a floor length white tablecloth, and am going to sew the strips of fringe on about 6 inches apart so that it starts about a foot below the table, and has layers of fringe all the way too the floor.) |

Ask a Question
Who's walking you down the aisle?
My parents were killed in an accident just over a year ago, So I'm going to be walking down alone.
I've been told I should have my uncle or future father in law, (or someone else I'm close to), walk with me, but that was my dad's honour. I'd feel like I was trying to replace him, or just having someone walk with me for tradition sake. I am having a jeweler take out my mom's diamond and reset it, then weld my parents rings together to make a pendant for me to wear. So They will still be with me in a little way. (sorry, this is starting to sound like a pity-party) :P So anyhow, anyone else in a similar position? Are you walking alone or with another loved one? What about the brides with fathers, is he walking you down? Your mom, both of them? |

Ask a Question
hair, what do you think?
I know I want a pouf veil or a cathedral length one with many layers.
I'm 5 ft 9 and more or less a stick, but my dress gets pretty big, so i want one of those huge 'make the 80's brides cry tears of envy' veils :) Curls do not suit me, I love them, but I just don't have the right face, the picture I posted is more or less what I do everyday. Would it be OK to do it for the wedding too? Or should I find something different? And how would the front poof thingy look with a veil? (since I still don't have my usb, I found this one on facebook, but there was someone sticking their tongue out in front of my face, so it got cropped, haha) Oh, I think I am leaning towards the main picture, but I love them all! |

Reception
Linens/favours/centerpieces
So our venue has rectangular tables and silver chivari chairs, so when I found the main picture yesterday I got so excited! It's exactly what I want!
I asked my boss for the day off so I could do wedding stuff, (most amazing boss EVER! but that's a different story), and went down to the event rental showroom my venue suggested. I introduced myself, told her my date and handed her the picture. She just stands there looking at it for a minute then tells me she can replicate it to a tee if I want!!!!! She set up a mock-up table for me, (I will post the picture as soon as I remember to buy a USB cord), they even have the sheer chair covers! So it will be The white tuxedo table cloth and napkins, a sheer white table overlay and the sheer chair covers. Then she grabbed these weird globe looking lights and stuck two of them under the table, and it glowed through just like the photo! She said they are usually used for high cocktail tables, but work for regualr ones too! (they don't get hot or get in the guests way) Since I am an impulse buyer I paid it up front, so they will come in and set it all up. Then I went to an old antique market near by and found some white metal candelabras, they need some paint, but are in great shape otherwise. He told me he has tons of them in the back and I can have as many as I want for $3 a piece! So I can get 2 per table, and I will paint them glossy white and hang a few crystals from them. The favours will be chili pepper truffles, (they look like the ones in the photo), in a little white box with an over sized white satin bow on top. I'm trying to decide between buying pre-tied ones that you stick on top, or tying them all the way around. Thing is I love the votives on the tiered cake plate, do you think it would look OK between the two candelabras? Or should I just save that for somewhere else? (Oh and these are the same plates as we are using) |

Wedding Flowers
please tell me your opinion!!!!
I cannpt decide between these two styles.
The first choice is the white bouquet with roses and ostrich feathers for me and the pomanders for my two bridesmaids, but they would be done with white peonies. I love them, but the florist would have to special order them in, since they aren't in season. Not really a big deal, she said if they weren't the right colour she could substitute white garden roses. The orchid bouquet I love! The bridesmaid one wouldn't have the red in it, just the orchids with a couple calla lillies. Problem is calla lillies are funeral flowers, I'm not at all into 'superstition' or anything, but every funeral our family has had has used all white callas. I don't want to see them and think of death. I think the orchid bouquet matches my dress the best and the pomanders match the bridesmaid best. But I'm afraid the styles would clash. Has anyone seen a picture of an orchid pomander? I would love to do that, but I need a visual! What do you think???? |

Bridesmaids
My girls are amazing!
My one friend knew the proposal would be happening, so she planned a secret trip to be at our engagement party :)
So we went on a shopping frenzy to Seattle and Vancouver, we got my dress, my shoes, and they both got hteir dresses. I told them any style/length/fabric as long as it's white. They both chose kiribilla dresses, and we were so lucky we could get them off the rack! I am getting them each a ban.do hair piece, so I showed them the pictures of the ones I like to see if they like them too last night, this morning I had e-mails waiting for me saying they got together last night and picked out their shoes online and already bought them to match the hair pieces! We all have mounds of hair, they can do what they like, but I know it will be big and curly. Now for the flowers.... that is the only thing stressing me out! |

Flower girl
the little princess
We are having one of my good friend's daughter, Sophie, be our flower girl. (except she won't be throwing anything, lol)
She is a little actress, doesn't know what shy means, 4 years old and just started ballet, so now she twirls and points while walking :) I'm hoping she'll put on a bit of a show, hehe. I have two dress options, I'm going to let her pick tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it will be the first one. It will be all white though. I am going to make a butterfly bouquet for her, like the one in the picture, and probably all different colours. The shoes I found at http://www.colorfulchildhoodstore.com/Leather-Animal-Print-Ballet-Slippers-A-Perfect-Gift-s/40.htm and they can be ordered in custom colours, so i will probably go for white with a coloured flower. |

Our white wedding
our white summer wedding
we got engaged on the 4th and set the date for August 21st!! We are crazy.
I go back to work 6 days a week this coming week, so I won't be having much free time at all, let alone time for wedding planning! We, (well I), have worked like mad for the past few days to get the major planning done. Don't let anyone tell you that you need 2 years, in 5 days I have bought my dress, booked the church, reception hall, baker, photographer, video guy, bought the bridesmaid dresses (off the rack), booked our hair and day-before spa sessions, got the minister and found my shoes! *phew* (I knew we would be getting married relatively soon, and I knew what dress i wanted form a few years ago... so I already knew what I wanted) We are doing a white wedding, the bridesmaid each chose their own white dress and I think the men will be in gray suits. He hasn't decided yet, what they wear is totally up to them. Since when do groomsmen get so into wedding planning??? They have texted me pictures of cakes and limos and different ideas. I'm an antique store addict, so I have boxes of neat bits and pieces I will be incorporating. I'm going to post like crazy tonight, I figured this site would be a good way to keep myself on top of what I have and Haven't done! Any suggestions would be appreciated!! |
