Update
Life so far...
Hi everyone,
Congrats to all the brides whose weddings I've missed. To the bride-to-Be's congrats and enjoy the planning journey. I had another baby girl last year April, phew! I know it's been long.I do check WBC from time to time, I'll start commenting again. I sometimes fear that my opinion might be outdated since I got married ages ago - so if I'm off the mark pls forgive me.... Some family pictures. Happy planning! |

Welcome Ceremony
African traditional welcoming ceremony
Hubby's family will having a African Welcome ceremony for me this Saturday. Here's my dilemma:
My MIL and her seamstress chose a traditional dress for me, but I had asked my hubby to choose a pattern for me & guess what he asked MIL to do that. I was initially impressed with her seamstress BUT after she made the groomsmen's ties & vests too small for my wedding (even though she personally took measurements) I don't trust her. She has also made 3 dresses for my daughter & 2 of those dresses the chest part fits her too tight and the 3rd dress is big. Now I saw a picture of my dress & I have no issue with it, but even though I forwarded her my measurements that I used for my wedding dress, I don't know if my traditional dress will fit. Now I can't do anything about this, BUT I have about 3 traditional dresses I can wear if it doesn't fit - do I then voice my concerns to MIL when the dress doesn't fit or do it know over the phone since I'll be leaving for Lesotho on Friday???? Here are some few patterns I had in mind but my dress pattern isn't there. |

Songs that got me thru the dramas
The following songs got my mind off when the planning wasn't going well, especially during the dramas.
--For the dramas Fairytale by Liquideep got me through (would just visualize my hubby and the tension would slowly melt) & Stay Real by DJ Fresh For my BM's that had it rough - Friend by Gregor Salto ft. Chapelle cheered me up. DJ Fresh - Stay Real object width="480" height="385"> |

Make up trial - suggestions???
My camera is still not working, but I did take a photo using my crappy phone; as soon as I upload the pic I'll post it.
I think I looked great (If I can blow my own horn hehehe!) but I still have issues with my oily skin, because it was roughly 2 hrs later and my skin was hot, sweaty and SHINY (ugh!!!). They used MAC products - they're great but way too expensive. I'm going to try Clinique, Loreal and Almay products - but I want to try only mineral make up stuff. Any suggestions??? |

Happy Happy Happy New Year!!
2010 Is going to be fantastic
This is my daily inspiration for 2010 (got it from chocolatebrides.com):
The Rules of Being Human You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for as long as you live. How you take care of it or fail to take care of it can make an enormous difference in the quality of your life. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time, informal school called Life. Each day, you will be presented with opportunities to learn what you need to know. The lessons presented are often completely different from those you think you need. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error and experimentation. You can learn as much from failure as you can from success. Maybe more. A lesson is repeated until it is learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it (as evidenced by a change in your attitude and ultimately your behavior) then you can go on to the next lesson. Learning lessons does not end. There is no stage of life that does not contain some lessons. As long as you live there will be something more to learn. There is no better than here. When your there has become a here you will simply discover another there that will again look better than your here. Dont be fooled by believing that the unattainable is better than what you have. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself. When tempted to criticize others, ask yourself why you feel so strongly. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you create with those tools and resources is up to you. Remember that through desire, goal setting and unflagging effort you can have anything you want. Persistence is the key to success. The answers lie inside of you. The solutions to all of lifes problems lie within your grasp. All you need to do is ask, look, listen and trust yourself. |

Sad news
Friend's dad gone too soon...
My friend's dad (the one in the middle w/ her hubby behind her) passed away this Saturday. He died on the scene when the taxi he was travelling in was hit by another car. The sad part is that no one was willing to identify the body so she did it. He died a terrible death because she said he had a big open hole on his head and crushed shoulders (this is the image that I'm struggling to come to terms with).
A little background - my friend's dad (biological) was shot and killed on his way from work when they were really young so his brother took them in and raised them (he hated it when ppl would want to him their step dad - he insisted that he is their dad). Now he too is gone......... Funeral is next week Saturday - I feel horrible because I won't be able to make it because that's a day we'll be having a traditional African welcoming ceremony for my hubby. I'm still in shock and really sad... |

Facebook
Wedding pics on Facebook???
My Hubby is a VERY Private person, so as a result I keep my life with him private. My worry is ppl (especially friends and colleagues) putting our wedding pics on Facebook. I know this will really piss him off!
How can I deal with??? |
