Anyone else having a Destination Wedding?
Need some fellow brides destination tips
I feel like I am going insane at times........trying to organize a wedding in another country with little or no help is so frustrating......have to try and visualize what everything is going to be like.......doing the centerpieces and decor myself as everything works out so much more expensive when they charge you for every little thing........trying to pick out really nice and special favors for guests who are making the special effort to travel to the other side of the world for our big day......Anyone else getting married totally out of their own territory who could share some tips with me?!

I'm getting married in Fiji and it's the easiest thing ever!!!
Send off requests to a bunch of resorts/ locations and they'll often have a package that you can modify.  It's so much easier than doing it yourself as well as usually cheaper.
Good luck :)

Hey - I have picked the resort and the Ultimate Wedding Package already!!! There just seems to be extras everywhere so its easier me doing somethings myself.......Im probably sweating over the small stuff! Its just trying to talk to someone who is actually there is another mission in itself its like 4 wks or more before you get a reply to your emails............Im sure it will all work out in the end?!

what about leaving the small details (that would normally be incorporated into a wedding ceremony/reception at home) OUT!

I just saw pics of a cousin's wedding in Barbados. It was completely simple. Nothing to it, really. No decor, no gifts, no nada!

She had flowers for herself and daughter. Her hair/makeup was done beautifully. It was just a few of them in the middle of a beach, under a couple of trees and it was so incredible looking:)

She looked so carefree and happy:)

I am going with alot of DIY/photography style props, but otherwise...leaving alot of it out also! No need for all the madness on a destination wedding, imo. The guests will forever remember the day because of the incredible vacation, the incredible scenery,   the culture, the music, the vows you make...not what it on the table and in their pocket:)

It will be amazing! You'll see!

We didn't actually get married there, but the place it's self was AMAZING!!  The area was goregous and the people there was SO nice!  They did have a wedding at the resort we were at and it was very very pretty.  I think the only thing to make sure of, for the picture sake is to make sure it's ocean front and not on the lagoon side.  It's still pretty but it's not the beautiful ocean water.  Good luck with everything, I am sure it will be great.

Hey im getting married next may in the Mayan Riviera and i know EXACTLY how you feel!!..the resort has told me not to worried about anything until March 09...and to me it just seems to good to be true and i feel like i nee d to be doing things, but there relaly isnt much  to do...so i am in the same boat as you, taking my time wth DIY projects like invitations, favours and gifts for the weddings party..just take your time with it all it will come together. i know people who have done destination weddinsg in the past and they saidthey felt the same way but once they got there everything fell into place. basically you will spend your first 3 days picking flowers, decor , cake and menu!
So just RELAX and enjoythe fact that we are lucky and have the resorts taking care of everything!!

i have  lots of information so if you have any quetsions at all please ask me!!

I live in Brentwood, California.  We are getting married on the other side of the United States (3,000 miles away)  in Charleston, South Carolina.  Pre-Honeymoon will be a few days in Key West, Florida.  The real honeymoon is still in the planning stages.
