I have never been a DIY girl but as soon as wedding planning started, I turned in to one. I just refuse to pay crazy money because something has the word wedding attached. My stuff may not be as professional as the expensive stuff but I'm ok with that!
I ordered our chapagne flutes a week after we got engaged. I got 8 for $10 or $15. They were pink. Recently, I got to thinking that the guys might feel funny drinking out of them. So I taped them off and painted them silver. I added their little bow ties and etched their intials. Now they are personal AND cheap!
I added some rhinestones to the girls etched initials for a little added bling.
I wish someone would have told me that adding ribbon to a perfectly round piece of glass was going to be such a pain in the a$$! I finally got the candy jars finished. Added the ribbon and the tag for the type of candy. The ribbons are mostly not straight but I DON'T CARE! I am normally a perfectionist but there was several times these containers almost flew across the room lol.
I worked on a card box for countless hours. I got done and I just wasn't feeling it. I thought "oh well, it's done, at least I have one". Then I saw a box by miss juddslove08. I thought it was absolutely fabulous. It was so clean, simple and pretty. I decided to give it another try. I really like this one a lot!
The last picture is my table numbers. They will be in the top of my eiffel tower, ostrich feather centerpieces. I was having a hard time finding anything to make them stick in the foam. So the picture is a used popsicle stick lol. I bought new (unused) ones and painted them silver. I hope to be finishing these up this weekend.
So girls, whadyathink? Anything need more or less or changed? I'm a big girl, I can take it!
I am a perfectionist also, but I do agree that sometimes, you just have to let things be the way they are. There is too much to do and too little time.
xoxochrissxoxo, i found them on ebay. the seller is lillianrose182. she only has a set of lilac ones right now. they were $20 for 8 glasses, 4 frames, 8 wine charms and 4 pillow sachets. you can actually buy 4 regular chapagne glasses for $6 at wal-mart.
misstiff, thanks to futuremrsmarzen and kristieb, i learned about etching cream. $15 for cream (50% off coupon at michaels) $20 for glasses, $5 for stencils, $3 for stencil adhesive, and other odds and ends i'm sure. works out to about $5 a piece and i just found them for that on orientaltrading. however, i am using etching cream on beer mugs from dollar store for the boy's gifts. i used single initials (stencils) on the flutes. i haven't tried anything with more than one letter to create a word. i am planning to this weekend. i know that michaels has "rub-n-etch" stencils that make it much easier but they don't have them for father/mother of the bride/groom and that's what i need. just search you tube for etching cream and there will be videos of the general concept. i hope some of this made sense, i feel like i have been rambling. let me know if you have any questions!!
thanks again ladies! feels nice to have people compliment the things we have worked so hard on!
